Title: Happy Hacking manual?
Post by: scott62185 on Mon, 24 November 2014, 20:10:36
Hello, I just got a new HHKB(!) and being somewhat of a keyboard newb, I don't know how to change the DIP switches (or anything else) on this bad boy. Can one of you keyboard aficionados help me out by pointing me in the direction of some information for the HHKB 2? Thanks!

It's on the product page, just scroll down.

If you want to customize your layout more than the dip switches allow check out Hasu's alternative controller:

A conventional membrane keyboard.  Similar lay to the HHKB 2 Pro, but with arrow keys.  NOT a Topre keyboard.

TIL turning a dip switch completely changes your keyboard's switches.

No, I mean, if you put switch 1 on and 2 off it puts the HHKB into "lite mode." I'm not sure what that is...

Ah that, sorry, not really concentrating while I'm working.

http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8361

"The SW1 and SW2 DIP switches select among three modes: default or HHK mode, HHK Lite mode and Macintosh mode. The only difference between the default mode and HHK Lite mode is some additional key combinations become available in HHK Lite mode. For example, you cannot use the Fn-Tab combination for Caps Lock in default mode; HHK Lite mode enables it. I can see no reason why anyone would prefer the default mode to the HHK Lite mode, and I recommend you use HHK Lite mode if you use an HHKB Pro keyboard."
