You should ask Cindy (elecplus) on Deskthority.  Or just browse through the vendor marketplace over there to see some of her threads, she posts quite often info on recyclers she knows.  Just be prepared to be turned down, or if you do make it in - to find nothing of value.

I'm trying to do more local but I have no clue where to start. Kind of a stupid thread now that I think about it.

Not a stupid thread.  Send Cindy a PM, see if she has any info on recyclers in your area.

Nah if you do that she'll probably feign interest via e-mail and then sell whatever you wanted to other people instead.

I went on my County's website to find all the recyclers then found the electronics ones. You could call your dump and ask. Best buy  does recycling so they may give you an answer. Goodwill/local thrift stores may know. Many businesses will send their old stuff to a recycler so if you know someone who works in an office, they might be able to help.

And as always, a simple Google search is always a good start.

I was deciding on sending my local dump an email, but the only place to email unfortunately is the head of public works. I feel like my email will go ignored :|

It'll definitely be ignored if you don't send an email at all.

If you live in a small town, they might have time for you. I know we had to deal with the city of Radford department of public works and engineer (and geologist) for a project a few years back and everyone was friendly and helpful.

Your state environmental protection agency (in my state it's the Indiana Department of Environmental Management) often will have laws governing the management of e-waste and resources on who collects it.  I recommend getting a hold of that list and contacting the businesses in your area that recycle the e-waste.
