Title: Ergohuman, who here uses it and what do you think about it?
Post by: Sc0tTy on Tue, 09 December 2014, 05:10:26
Hello all!

As a poster I'm quite new here, I've been lurking for a while though!

Anyway, I want to replace my current chair at home and I'm looking for a good chair.
At the office I sit on a HM Aeron and I always felt there is something wrong with it, the lower back support is not 'great' and some other stuff is missing that other ergo chairs do have.

I have had multiple sessions on-line looking for great chairs and every time I end up at Ergohuman, the chair looks great and you can change a lot of stuff.
Sadly except for a few video's on YouTube their aren't many reviews about it on-line, so I was wondering: who here uses it and what do you think about it.

Also I was wondering if somebody could answer this for me, I have contacted Raynor, HJH Office and HumanScale but had no reply from any of them.
I live in The Netherlands and so I was looking for European vendors for the chair. Luck-ally there is an 'official' reseller of the chair right here in my country.
They sell the Ergohuman and Ergohuman-Plus, same as in the UK and produced by HJH Office
http://www.ergohuman.nl/designbureaustoel-ergohuman-plus-ehp-ham-met-hoofdsteun.html (Netherlands)
http://www.ergohuman.net/ergohuman-office-chairs/ergohuman-mesh-office-chairs/ergohuman-plus-mesh-office-chair.html (United Kingdom)

In the United States they sell the Ergohuman and Ergohuman elite from Raynor

Can anybody tell me if these chairs are the same? If so, why are the names different and if not, are the ones produced by HJH Office knock-offs ?

Thank you!

Hi, I have to tried that one, but I like these chairs (https://www.bureaustoelwijzer.nl/balansstoel) a lot. That website is in Dutch, pictures speak for themselves though.

I have had this one at home for many years (https://www.bureaustoelwijzer.nl/cache/images/2/5/e/varier-stokke-variable-balans-300x300-4401.jpg) and I have this one, which is even better, at work: (https://www.bureaustoelwijzer.nl/cache/images/7/a/3/varier-stokke-thatsit-balans-250x0-4384.jpg). Edit: that last one also has a *fantastic* lower back support.

For those interested these balancing chairs seem to be available from

For US and Can

Alternatively, direct from Varier, although this appears more expensive

I actually used these kind of chair many years ago and they certainly have their upsides.
One of the few problems I had with them was that I always stopped paying attention with my posture and started hanging forward leaning on my arms.
They also lack armrests

I find that those kneeling chairs are great for about 30–60 minutes, then I start to be annoyed at the pressure on my shins.

Yeah I had that problem too.

But I started this topic to talk about the Ergohuman chairs, can we get back to topic ? :)

Let me help you - you are looking for feedback on THIS chair, right? (http://www.ergohuman.net/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9d99c3f753f1b2ead06e02a7b93f28ec/e/r/ergohuman-plus-mesh-office-chair.jpg)

I just stand half the time, then have a tall stool to sit in when I get tired of standing.  Ergonomic chairs are so 20th century.

Simple, I know some things about these chairs too.

Works for Westerners on average, as well as... erm... more horizontally inclined people.

The average Asian will not find the Ergohuman good because it is too broad.

When you are in Singapore like me you have the choice of Japanese and UK (I believe Ergohuman is UK?) office chairs at the showroom and you can clearly see one is broader. So consider your own girth.

I’m not sure if anyone here has experience with that one in particular. Looks reasonably similar to Herman Miller, Steelcase, etc. chairs. Maybe there are reviews online somewhere?

Personally I’m not a big fan of those kinds of chairs. I really like a chair that supports more different sitting positions. I’ve been using a HÄG Capisco chair for the last several months (along with an adjustable-height desk), and I really like it. It can be adjusted for sitting like a regular low office chair, like a tall saddle-seat, reclining with arms propped back on the armrest, or sitting backwards, resting the forearms.

Here’s a picture showing a woman sitting in some silly ways:

I don’t do most of those, but the picture gives some idea of what’s possible.

That looks like the most fun a person could possibly have sitting in a chair.
