I came across a few of those on Google... They have 104 keys, but the |\ key shares the usual Backspace area, leaving the Enter key extending upwards.
Example:

And then there's the 106-key ones, with two extra modifiers:

Anyone have any experience with those or know anything about them?

Reminds me of the Model F AT:

Same tiny backspace and big ass enter key.

Yep, that layout was super popular in the early to mid 1990s (and as you note is still produced today). Basically a mashup of the PC/AT and “enhanced” (Model M) keyboard layouts.
Around here, we call that the “bigass enter” key.

I think it's a quite normal layout.
SteelSeries 6Gv2 and 7G both have small Backspace key and large Enter key as well.

I don't like them tho, it's hard to replace new keycaps for them.

Huh, I was never aware of it. Interesting.
What about the 106 keys?

That is Korean layout. I think the two additional keys are called Hangul and Hanja.

additionally there are about a thousand ALPS clones made in asia that have that layout (large enter key and split backspace). It was so prevalent it's almost a de facto standard now.

Oh, right. I knew the functions existed, having used the Korean layout a few times, but not that some keyboards had dedicated keys.

The Japanese Layout also has two extra modifiers

Oh god no, not the dreaded 1u backspace key :-X

I don't think it's unique to Korean boards, although it may still be more popular there.
I remember my first two keyboards (early 1990s) had the large Enter and small Backspace. I have two keyboards now that still have it from the same era (KPT-102 and Chicony KB-5181).
It does take a moment to adjust but isn't really a big problem. I, too, don't really see any kind of advantage of this setup though.
