Title: ok ouch...
Post by: swill on Thu, 11 December 2014, 11:05:23
i just went to walk down some stairs and i slipped when stepping off the first stair and rode the whole flight of stairs down on my ass.  i tried to catch myself kind of tweaked my arm in the process.  the arm is actually what hurts more than anything.  kind of a numbness in my shoulder and my finger tips are tingling.  :(  back and butt is bruised but the arm is what is causing me the most discomfort.

words of wisdom: be careful in socks at the top of hardwood stairs...  haha...

Dude, so sorry. Butt is worst part to get hurt; you can't sit, lay only on tummy, taking a crap is gosh awful.

Hope you recover soon!

Ya, I was able to save the tailbone, so I did not bruise that.  THANK GOD!!!  Bruising the tailbone is SOO painful.  In catching myself so I didn't land square on the tailbone I tweaked my arm, so that took the brunt of the fall.  I think I walked away with about the minimal damage I could expect, so I am lucky...

Once happened to me when there was 6-8 stairs left, with my kid in my arms. Managed to act as a cushion for my kid. While I was happy to protect my kid, my back didn't thank me for this move!

Yea, socks and wooden stairs can get quite slippery! More so with new wooden stairs! Glad you are not more hurt man!

I once saw a TV documentary about an old government archive house that had a slide beside the staircase. The slide was not for people - but for books, to get them out quickly in case of fire.

You may have pinched a nerve. If you're still tingling/numb, see a doctor.

Also, feel better.

I think I have recovered. Arm is feeling better now and no more tingling. I might have some bruises tomorrow, but I am not having any lasting symptoms. #lucky

You're good. Protip: Take acetaminophen and not ibuprofen. Ibuprofen thins the blood, and can make your bruises a lot worse.

Good tip.  I usually stay away from that stuff if I can.  I tend to use Arnica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnica) for bruises and such.  It works really well and is just applied topically...
