Is that price for a single tool, or for a pair?Pretty sure for a pair :)

Can you give a brief run-down on how they work? Is it only for pcb mounted switches(hitting the bottom plastic to top off the cover)?

insert the tools into the switch top and squeeze. It works on PCB mounted switches and plate mount as long as the plate supports switch top removal
Anyone get a PM yet?
I sure buy 1 set. But i have a question: What different between special one & normal ?
Ok thanks for your explain :) I like normal one than.I sure buy 1 set. But i have a question: What different between special one & normal ?
As far as I can tell the special one has a defect on one of the tool handles.
I'm in a for a tool. Don't forget that I'm also in for the lubrication station, so we can combine shipping. You have picture about lube station?

Full functional, but the top of the handle is a bit messed up.
I'll should be sending out PMs tomorrow since I think they're all sold.

Yea, I don't know why it's in the IC section...
heedpantsnow reminded me that the people in the ti plate GB get dibs on these. So I won't be able to get a final list until they respond to me. They have 24 hours to get back to me.

Will there be another round of these ever again? I can't believe I stalked this for so long and it slipped by me.

Checked bank balance. Good for one set of tools.

Theres priority to other members first, and looking at the amount of tools available and the posts in this thread, they are all gone.
From counting the number of tools from his picture...there seems to be 54 tools. I'm sure there's at least 27 sets of tools here...
I wish he have more. If he only have amount like picture he shown, I missed it :(From counting the number of tools from his picture...there seems to be 54 tools. I'm sure there's at least 27 sets of tools here...
Based on another picture posted (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=62688.msg1561815#msg1561815) I counted 62 tools making 31 pairs. I think there were 7 participants in the Ti Plate buy (excluding The_Beast) which would leave somewhere around 24 pairs to be distributed here, assuming all plate buy participants opted for a pair.

I'm in the TI plate buy over at Geekhackers. I'm in for a notched 60% and a Phantom plate.
Is this the same buy?

I'm going to pass on my set actually. I already have a set in steel and I don't think it's fair for me to hoard multiple sets. I'll leave it up to The_Beast as to how he'd like to handle it. I've already PM'ed him so please don't blitz him with more PMs. I'm sure his poor inbox is already super full :).
i'm confused.
if limitz got one, then I should have got an invoice as well?
was his just a dibs or did my PM just get lost?

limitz got an invoice because I sold him a ti lube station as well.
Looking at my list, you were 2 people away from a set...
I think I payed for mine. I have only used paypal for purchasing through a shopping cart so I am not 100% sure. The price in the PM included fees right? You can ship mine last if you can't ship them all at once for some reason. I will be out of town when it gets here anyway.
Why do they require you to link a card? I would much rather enter it manually every time, so that if someone hacks the paypal account they can't use any of my money.

The price listed included goods/service fees
When would you like me to ship them?
Looks like the payment went through fine! Be sure to fill out the form in the PM!
Got the invoice.
Will pay later tonight as soon as I am back home from work :thumb:
I guess I didn't make it. The sad thing is I have been following this since Ti plate GB and even registered on the interest check, only to have missed it due to timezone. :(
Paid & filled form. I am very happy & thank you very much :thumb:

There are for international, but honestly, they aren't even worth me typing in.
In my experience, it tracks to the border and then when it's delivered with nothing else in between.

Do you know how long it'll take to get to Canada? The reason why I ask is because my post man is very unreliable...sometimes they don't leave pick up notices. Thanks again :).

If shipping become a problem, I'd have no problem giving tracking numbers on an individual basis. I just don't want to spent a ton of time if it's not going to be an issue/it sucks

All the international buyers had their orders shipped (also a small refund due to me overestimating shipping weight, check your PM).
I got the CONUS packing stuff today but didn't have time to print labels and pack them up and ship today. I think I should be able to get it done sometime next week (holiday n all)
Again, thanks guys for all the support!

Still waiting for mine, but I guess that was to be expected as an international buyer :)Yeah right. I too :)
I honestly have no idea how to use the pair of tools to swiftly pop out the housing...
Although they work really well if you do one side and then the other! :thumb:
Definitely a good purchase!
If anyone ordered a second pair and decide they don't need it, please let me know. I need these.
Looks like I'll be shipping Friday. I'll get shipping labels printed tomorrow, but doubt I'll make it to the post office by close. Wednesday they close at Noon, no go. Thursday's closed as all day.No worries, thanks for all your work :thumb:
Beast-
Just wanted to double check if you received my payment. I'm not in any sort of rush, I know things are crazy especially with the holidays just coming to an end.
Beast,
Are these tools thicker then the SS sets?

Looking at my PP, it says payment is complete and it's ready to ship. Which will be later tonight once I get done working :D
All CONUS shipped!Thank you :-*
All CONUS shipped!

All CONUS shipped!
Sweet, hopefully I'll get it before I leave for school.
Second? in line for next? batch.I think there are multiple pages in this thread of people who are already "in line".
Received my tools right before the new years, thanks Beast for the quick shipping.
I'm not sure if I'm using the tools wrong or something (never used the SS version), but one tool always slips out of the top housing, bruising the plastic everytime (I'm trying to open bare switches, should it only be used when already soldered down? I can see how some extra downward force could help). The tools also wreck abostudio tops from my testing.
Opening new switches directly from underneath with the tools works like a charm though. It just *clicks* and one side is open, and stays open.

I did all my testing on PCB mounted switches. I don't think that would make a huge difference tho. Make sure the two prongs are fully inserted and apply even pressure to both pairs.
are abostudio the clear/translucent tops? I had some but never tested on them because I figured they'd be the same

The abostudio ones are definitely made from a more brittle plastic. I've broken several of them using the stainless steel version of these switch tools and I can see stress indicators on even more. I've never broken a stock Cherry top.

When I use these tools, I just open one side and then block it off from closing and open the other.
It's not quite as clean as I would like, however this seems to be the best way to not damage anything.
Although I have never tried this with new switches
Recieved, will test out later ;D
Tools arrived today. I tested them briefly on my Phantom and they work great! 100x easier than the bent up binder clips I've been using.
Thanks for all your hard work, The_Beast!
Got my tools today.
I tried them on a switch tester and they fit a little tight, but work :thumb:
Thanks again Beast.
Beast any idea on when the next run of SS or titanium openers will be? I would like to get a pair for my upcoming JD45 build.
Were these cut with waterjet or laser?
Laser. I sanded and sandblasted the edges to take some of the striation, common with laser cutting, away.
Are there any left? If so, I am interested!
Aww :-( oh wellAre there any left? If so, I am interested!
They've all been gone for a while.
Really hope there is a 2nd round for this item..
i would like to get a set please.
