I emailed Elitekeyboards.com and they said that this kb
is out of stock worldwide! Is this true?

Not surprising as it was a limited edition keyboard. Give it a little while and Realforce will have another limited edition keyboard out. Of course we will all have to have that one as well.
I remember when the black 86U came out and I missed out on one of those. That is one of the reasons I purchased the 87U early this time around. The question will be how long they will make us wait for another limited edition keyboard. My bet would be spring 2010 that will allow demand to grow such that people will be willing to pay more for it. Besides by that time I will have saved up the money to be able to get one.

I really wanted to import one. The HHKB Pro2 seems to be very good too, but I need the Home/End-Cluster. And that damn red ESC-Key.^^
They should include a green one too.
I don't know, which key should be green... FN or so.^^

i actually emailed FILCO TW asking them when they would have stock of realforce, they said about september, can't wait to get my 1st 1 haha.

I just got my HHKB Pro2 (actually using it right now) and felt the same way before I got it. I use home, end and arrow keys allot when coding. I have to say that it is not quit as bad as I thought it was going to be. I still have to learn the keys but over all I think I will get used to it. And their is something to be said about not having to leave the home row and still hit all the keys. But I think before I get completely comfortable I may have flip a couple of the dip switches. One for back space and one for turing left meta into function key.

"stlensbar" on e-bay was selling English/Korean-labelled versions of the 87U along with a set of English-only keycaps. All the keys were 55g on the Korean board, instead of the 30g/45g/55g mix on the US boards.
I think there were still two the five left unsold when the sale closed, so you might be able to talk them into selling you one of the remaining ones.
Beware, though: They were asking $300 US (for keyboard and English keycaps) plus a non-trivial shipping fee from Korea.
CORRECTION> $300 US for the keyboard, the English keycap set is an extra $50.

There's one thing I always wonder about those DIP switches - as I understand, there's one for swapping the Alts with the Metas. And there's one that turns left meta into an Fn. If you flip both, will the key that is originally left alt become Fn?

Unless you're being sarcastic or trolling, in which case just ignore me, I don't understand -- you already know how Topres really effective marketing strategy works, but you're STILL saving your money to let them rip you off? Sorry, but that's just dumb.

Personally I don't think any of the Topre boards are a rip off. Expensive yes but not a rip off. You can purchase most of the Topre boards any time you want one 86U(white), 103U (black or white) and the HHKB Pro. On the other hand you can't get the special production models any time you want. Yes the 87U had a price premium attached to them but really not much of a premium. So yes as a collector that really likes the Topre boards I will get the next limited edition board when it comes out. And yes I do know that some people feel that all of the Topre boards are a rip off but I'm not one of them. After getting my first Topre board it has been by far my favorite type of board to type on.

If it is like the HHKB, yes.
I may have to try that. But I really use the alt keys a bunch so will not stick with it. I really don't use the meta keys that much so don't really mind loosing one of those.

I just checked Benippon and they have the Realforce 86u. Has anyone actually checked the standard Japanese import sites? See the Topre Wiki entry for a whole list.

the 86U is no longer available in black. When it first came out you could get it in black but like the 87U it was a limited edition board. Like ripster stated other than the color and the in key LED's it is the same board. I think the 86U looks just as good as the 87U and in some ways it looks better.
