Title: Looking for a PBT Keycap set for my Das Proffesional
Post by: fierran123 on Sat, 27 December 2014, 01:33:36
Greetings Geekhack! I've been a long time lurker and finally decided to make an account for the purpose of this question; where can I find a reasonably priced PBT keycap set for my Das? I've been looking for the past hour + and can't seem to find anything - all the sets are 87/104 key, whereas the Das has 107 due to the fn keys. Is there a website where I can order a custom set/a set designed for Das keyboard? I already know about WASD, but I want PBT caps instead of ABS ones.

I appreciate the help!

Many full size sets come with extras for media keys. I purchased a Cherry side-printed PBT set from Massdrop that came with extras, and the PBT doubleshots I got from Mechanical Keyboards also had extras. Come to think of it, Ducky full size boards have 108 keys I think, so their PBT sets probably would have extra media keys as well.

I personally recommend leopold's pbt keycaps, theyre one of the better ones out there. Im not sure if it covers all your needs of the fn keys but it comes with a total of 110 keys so check if it is what youre looking for. It should be available on ebay.
Good luck with your search  ;)

Is this what you were talking about? They look perfect, I'm just worried that these might not be compatible with the Das Keyboard considering that the Das stock keycaps are high profile whereas these look much lower profile. Am I being paranoid? I mean these should work for most keyboards.

Cheers for all the replies!

Yup. Generally mx switches have universal profiles, aside from the specialty ones (ie. DSA or SA). There should be a minor difference in size/height but the same goes for any other keycaps. Depending on manufacturers there will be a slight difference but as long as you change all the keycaps it will be hard to notice. FYI, theres other colors/prints of the same keycap from the same seller you linked if you havent looked around.
Keep in mind theres shipping cost + shipping time for the leopold caps. Look around this forum for other alternatives is you are in a hurry, leopold is the conclusion I came up with after doing my research.

That sounds awesome! I decided I'm going to go with either a black or white set of the Leopold caps. I'm in no rush, and they seem to be the best balance of price and quality. Thanks so much for your help ^^
