Title: I made something :D [Keycap Creation Log]

I made a gold keycap :D

It still needs some improvements though, but I like it so far :p (Pardon the potato pics)

The progression:

I still have some issues with bubbles and imperfections with the resin, but I am working to make it flawless and as golden as possible :)

If anybody has any suggestions or anything they want to see, let me know! :thumb:

This looks great! The black really makes the gold pop.  :thumb:

so are you casting IBM keycap tops in a gold resin?

We need more artisan keycaps for buckling spring.

Pretty much. I tried casting it 100% out of resin but I couldn't get the proper amount of detail for the stem to be 100% flawless, so I ended up using the stems from a broken IBM and casting the gold on top. Now its perfect and there's no issues with anything breaking or not sliding properly.

Buckling springs are fun and I couldn't find a large selection of fancy keycaps for them so I made my own :D

Quick update, I've gotten the color and bubble ammount stable, so there shouldn't be many screwed up caps :p

If anyone wants to see other colors, let me know :D

Also watch out for topre, cherry MX, and Alps keycaps later :)

Looking good! Can you make a red key cap with a soul on top? You know the round souls with flames like in Soul Eater? :P

Quick update: I will be making 20ish Gold BS caps and 20ish in various colors (TBD) over the weekend

I am also working on some MX and Topre goodies.

I worked on resin casting today, I need to change up some sprues. And I broke a mold removing an MX stem :'(

Colors are pretty nice though ;D

Stuff on the left are defective, the ones on the right are pretty much good. There's a few bubbles on the side and bottom, but very hard to see once on a keyboard.

once I make the final 16th BS key to fit the top row, I will take some good pictures and do a quick sale to raise money for some more supplies. Prices will be in the range from $5-$12, and will be priced according to quality. ;D

Working on some keypullers and keychains. They'll be going through a kiln in a week or two, and once casted, will be in different colors. I also may get some anodized aluminum wire for some nice looking colors(if its the right thickness)

****butt ended up okay, the defects are pretty small. But for the other cap, I'm probally going to redo the mold.
