Hello everyone.
I'm a noob when it comes to keyboards, and I wanted to change mine so I've spent a few hours comparing mechanical KBs.
I finally ordered the CM Quickfire Rapid with Cherry MX brown and possibly o-rings. The choice was hard between this one and the Filco Majestouch 2, but from what I understood, the Filco is 5% to 10% better overall, and the price is 70% higher :s (96€ vs 170€).
I also ordered some red switches just in case ZQSD (WASD) keys don't feel good enough for gaming.
Anyway, I got curious about keyboards and it seems there's a lot to learn and share on here so... hi !

welcome to the geekhack squad, since you did say you're a noobie to keybnoards, swapping out plate mounted switches isnt as easy as you think it will be. time to go read buddy =D

just like joe said, it's not as easy to swap out plate mounted switches as it would be for PCB mounted. you're looking at at least 348 soldering joints assuming each one has an LED.

QFR is an excellent keyboard, I'm using mine with MX blacks to type this :)
The Filco is also excellent, but does not have a detachable cable and is, as you have discovered, somewhat more expensive.
also the Filco seems to have tighter tolerances for some keycap sets, which rub against the left side of the case. No such worries with the QFR!
