Title: Rocketfish RF-ABTMSE Laser Bluetooth Mouse
Post by: nowsharing on Sat, 08 August 2009, 13:43:53
Here's a short plug for the Rocketfish RF-ABTMSE bluetooth mouse (http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/pc-115-3-rocketfish-bluetooth-wireless-laser-mouse.aspx).

I wasn't expecting to like this mouse so much, but it has turned out to be one of my favorite purchases lately. It moves around smoothly and is just light enough to be perfect. The bluetooth plays very nicely with my $1 ebay "nub" USB adapter. I picked the mouse up NIB on ebay for $15 shipped. It is simple looking, and almost matches my dirty M.

Nice combo.  The only Bluetooth pointing device I ever used on PC was the Wii Remote, which was fun but a little impractical.

8-month follow-up. While the mouse is still working, it has an issue that I overlooked: You can't open it for cleaning. The left button on mine was sticking but came free. I can't see this mouse lasting much longer.

Screws under stickers or teflon pads? Common hiding places.

Yeah, my scrollpoint pro has screws underneath the little rubber pads (luckily the rubber was made translucent near the screw area, so you know there's a screw in that particular spot and don't have to rip the whole thing off).

There are a couple of teflon pads on the bottom. I'll pull them off and report back next week.

I have this mouse, but in black/gray.  I got mine along with a bluetooth keyboard that I use when my iPhone is docked and displaying on my TV.  (TVmirrorout, and BTStack for those of you who jailbreak)  The mouse and keyboard work fine, but the latency with the iPhone bluetooth in unbearable.  The mouse is useful for remotely playing media files (movies especially) on the TV.  I have used the USB "dongle" on my wife's laptop, and both work fine.  I've never considered opening it for cleaning as I haven't used it enough to require that yet, but I don't remember the case looking particularly complex or foreboding.
