Title: Heat Experts
Post by: tp4tissue on Sun, 11 January 2015, 17:49:20
Do they make infrared heaters in the 200 watt range..

I'm only looking for a foot warmer, as the puter's above the garage.. colder floor than rest of the house..

But all the infrared heaters seem to be in the 400+ watts range..  a bit much for what I need.

Your shadow dog emits infrared ?  200watts of it? u realize that's 172 Calories / hour..

I highly doubt shadow dog can push that kinda power level...

In China they have these things:  it's a wooden box with a incandescent light bulb inside and a platform just above that your feet rest on. Then you wrap your feet and the box in a blanket. Very very warm and pretty power efficient. Used it for a long time in Tibet with no heat.

Dunno if they're available where you are but worth a shot maybe?

The kotatsu seems to use an infrared lamp.. Screw that.. lightbulbs are 25cents.

The Chinese excel at finding something everyday and cheap and finding new uses for them.

They need these bc many still live in the countryside with no central heat and no insulation.

TP I replied to your PM about the box.

The beauty of it was bc of the blanket you didn't need much wattage.

Usually I wear ski socks and slippers at home (computer is in basement where it's fairly chilly in the winter with no heating).
