...is my 21st birthday.
The dilemma:
- Be a responsible adult, control myself, and go into work the next day
- OR -
- Go crazy, have loads of fun, live life to the fullest, and take a day off to recover
The choice seems obvious to most, but I still can't decide...

don't you need friends for the second option?
jk. DO DOPE **** HOPE

I respect your honesty.
Strip club is not out of the question...

how important is your job? if it's important, you can wait for the weekend. if it's not, wait for the weekend.
UNLESS, you play this all day:

UNLESS, you play this all day:
Job is important, as right now I'm on the verge of getting hired full time. But, I doubt they'd judge me for taking a day off for my birthday...
Hence the major dilemma on my part...
-
Go to work. Being a man is about doing what you ought to do, not what you want to do.

so get white girl wasted on the weekend. aside from rappers and alcoholics, who gets **** faced on a tuesday?
-
Another part of the dilemma is that the entirety of this upcoming weekend is busy with non-birthday related plans, which leave no time for drinking...

Pretty much this.

This is greatly helping my decision making right now... thanks for reminding me what is more important in life.
My sense of logic was wavering for a while there...
-
If someone where I worked skipped just because they were out drinking for a birthday they'd be fired.

We know you'll do the right thing! You're a good guy and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy early birthday CLiB! I hope you enjoy yourself no matter which option you choose. :thumb:

I would make the most of it. For the most part, my birthday for the last eleven years has been pretty terrible, (especially my 21st LOL) which is why I hate celebrating it and really dislike the time around it. (Christmas et al).
You have the opportunity to spend it with friends. Do it.

......... the sun will come out... tomorrow

Go to work hung over? I have had mandatory PT in the morning and have gone drunk. Just sweat the beer out.
-
You guys have given me much to consider...
I guess it all boils down to your definition of YOLO.
And for me, that definition has always been somewhere lost between responsibility and having fun/not caring...
-
all those advices are ridiculous. be sensible? hhha. have fun!
-
Happy birthday, whatever you decide :D

Happy Birthday buddy!

Good job, CLiB, bro. You did it. Again. ^-^

Thanks guys.
I decided I'll compromise. I'll have just enough fun to make it a good night, but not enough to the point that I'll be in misery tomorrow.

You only live once...

Boy and girls and music, why do they need gin?

Thanks guys.

And socks to make that bit more daring (Y)

haha definitely this. I have never even heard of people taking their day off for their birthday. that seems crazy.
I am probably a bit of a minority but celebrating your birthday on exactly the day it happens is not at all a big deal to me, and doesn't seem to be for anyone I know either.
is this an american thing? I mean, 21 and all seems to be big there, but I never saw it as *that* big of a deal?
either way, happy birthday in advance :p eat some good food and enjoy your day!
-
Thanks guys.

weak. should have gotten drunk af.

Party. 21 only happens once. I had a very interesting encounter with campus security on my college campus where I was urinating in a bush and they saw me. I'll never forget the stories people told me.
-
Save being responsible for when you are an adult. 21 is still a kid, so have fun while you still can. There is no fun like that to be had after 30 so live it up now.
What are you going to say to your kids, or how will you recollect your 21st birthday? You don't want to look back and realize that's a boring story about how you compromised your ever-dwindling freedom for a few extra bucks.
-
Party. 21 only happens once
just like 20 or 22.
-
True but clearly 21 has more significance then those.
-
Thanks guys.

ha!
My 21st was a proper mess of a house party at the house I was living at Uni and the morning after almost made it worth all the drinking... the looks of anguish and banter while feeling horrible, watching the worst **** on TV becasue we couldn't move and then running away from tidying up... memories

What was the verdict here? A sensible night with friends?
Lots of varied advice in here, too. :) I know that no one would care if someone took the day after their birthday off where I work (because someone did it about a month ago :)) ). That said, there isn't much need to celebrate on the actual day. It's the experience that matters most IMO. But that said, I missed all of my classes the day after my 21st, so that should give you an idea of how I celebrated my bday.
