I know this is probably more work than just plopping a bunch of caps in water with denture cleaning tabs, but butt wipes actually work really well for cleaning up scuzzy, grimey caps. Best part is you don't have to wait hours for them to dry on a towel before installing back on the board.

Essentially yes. The ones I used are found next to the diapers in the store.

Well, when I have caps that are absolutely disgusting with dirt and grime caked on, I just use isopropyl alcohol, which does a great job cleaning and dries withing 30 or so seconds

I use isopropyl alcohol to clean my keyboards (I don't have any pad-printed keycaps). I dip q-tips into the alcohol and carefully clean the surface of each key while they are on the keyboard.
If I need to clean a new keyboard find, I apply the same method but remove the keycaps and wash them in water first to remove surface grime, then wipe off the entire cap with alcohol. If ever I found a pad printed keyboard I like (or am asked to clean for a friend), I would do the same method but replace the alcohol with water.

I think that the concept is its own joke.
The hot soapy water for a full clean is very easy, and if you sling out the water and turn them right-side-up when you spread them out to dry, it only takes a few minutes. I put mine on the bed on a T-shirt and they are usually dry in 10-20 minutes.
Otherwise, why isn't a paper towel and alcohol (with the occasional Q-tip for stubborn spots) cheaper and more convenient?

Agreed. I really like wet naps or wet napkins for quick cleaning my boards. They're generally really handy just to have around in general.

I find wet naps are ideal for situations such as meetups or just generally traveling with your boards. Or when I'm at work and I don't have isopropyl here, wet naps work in a pinch.

I have a two year old in diapers still so the wipes are plentiful around the house, and we don't usually keep the alcohol on hand plus there is the risk the either the 2 year old or the 6 year old bumping the table and spilling the alcohol.

Wait until they are teenagers, and your worries will be altogether different.
But, I try to stay residue-free. Any kind of wipe is going to have something in it. Many have some sort of non-drying agent that keeps them at the proper "moist" feel. The ones for babies also have stuff to reduce burning and soothe pain.
Anything such as pure alcohol will be notorious for drying out and irritating the skin, but I want my caps squeaky clean.

Rubbing alcohol and q-tips get caps pretty clean without much fuss.
