Cool. It seems like the prices have come back down to earth.
-
More likely they know more people are willing to bid when the price starts low. I know some of the lower starting bid boards are the ones that go for the highest price.
-
After searching it does look like they are selling in the $200-$300 range and $500 new. Glad I got mine when I did. I thought $140 and $170 was high.

Those ($140/$170) are the kind of prices I'd like to see come back into vogue :p

It is funny how our memories become selective.
This time a year ago the SSKs were in the midst of a price spike, and shabby ones were going for $250-300 and great ones for nearly twice that.
After patiently waiting for 2-3 years to get a cheap one (broken, even) I was one of Cindy's "Lucky 10" a couple of months ago and got one of those NIB black labels for $165 shipped.
I engaged in a bidding war about 3 years ago when F ATs were scarce and pricey, and contributed to a couple-of-months' period where the very few that hit ebay sold in the ~$150 range, very high at the time.
After buying and selling at least half a dozen F XTs over a 2 year period a couple of years ago, at prices in the $10-$30 range, I am astonished to see them bringing $100 now! I understand that you need an XT to use as a framework to build an XTant, but how many people are really going to do that? Do significant numbers of people find the XT layout acceptable? Or are people collecting them "just because?"
The SSK market does make sense, because that is a keyboard that an ordinary person really would buy and use on a day-to-day basis.

I still can't believe the prices won't come down to <$150, thought the hype was gonna die out eventually. :(

"the hype" being that they would cost 2x-3x the price of a standard M?
-
Going to bid on these but doubtful I'll win considering the prices of these on eBay...
-
Don't forget about Craigslist. The (supposed) NIB I got in the summer of 2013 was from a CL add and only $140. The one I got for $170 (BIN) was on ebay and I just got lucky.
-
I'm curious how many SSKs this seller is sitting on since they sold 3 a week ago and already have 2 more up.

I messaged the seller a while back, and he said he had "a large quantity of these keyboards." I think it's safe to assume we'll be seeing quite a few more SSK's on the market for a little while. Now the question is do I get one, or do I get an AT F...

IBM SSK; two thirds the keyboard, for only three times the price!

And I can get an F122 for $35!

Won't lie, that made me laugh.

Registered in the forum just to say that I have talked with the seller, because I was asking if I ever won the bid if he can ship it to my country because it is not listed. He says "yes" and also offered me with a buy-it-now option, but with $250 price tag plus shipping.
If it is worth $250 for you guys who are in the US, which I doubt as I read the thread, maybe try to shoot him a message instead!
Hope he won't read this though, lol ;D

He's definitely reading this thread.

He's definitely reading this thread.
Or maybe he's that guy that thinks that it is OK to back out of an ebay deal after it goes through.

But its not a deal until both sides agree right? :))

Which one do you guys like more and why?

Which one do you guys like more and why?
The one that ends up cheaper.

Haha. Well the 1391472 is Nov 87, has numpad on keys and standard print screen button cluster.
The 1395217 has some interesting caps and is dated March 90. Quote button and Select button, with enter key where bottom right control normally is.
-
While I hope I can pick one of these up I highly doubt they'll sell for under $300
-

Sounds about right. Decent/good condition ones go for 175 when people aren't being crazy and bid warring it to 300+

Two more from the same seller (you may want to add this to first post):

Once. Only once I have I seen such a rare sight on ebay.
-
With $150 NIB via cindy, lets hope used SSK prices go lower than $100

I think that won't happen...
-
Do the 1987s have the heavy plates?
-
Yes, the two 87s I have do have the "gold" plates.
