Hi,
I'm building a ergodox, and was expecting to go with the litsters acrylic case. In that case, one of the layers act as a plate for the cherry mx switches. But now I'm thinking about going with a 3d printed case instead.
My question is whether going the PCB mount route (the switches I bought are PCB mount), is better/worse than going with the platemount option. What do people recommend?
Thanks.

A smallish high quality PCB like the Ergodox is fine without a plate as long as the PCB itself has good enough support. Up to 60% board size is acceptable IMHO. Going larger you either need really good support for the PCB or a plate if you want to prevent flex and the accompanying weird feel.
