So i recently got a novatouch TKL and loving it :D. So I decided to put O rings on it to reduce key travel (the ones that come with it). So I got curious and double stacked two o rings on the C key and compared it to the X key which had one o ring in it, just for fun. I was surprised to find out that I never noticed a difference in key travel at all. So I got confused, why doesen't stacking two o rings make a difference on the novatouch ? :O

hmm well does one o ring make a difference in key travel then? I feel that it does, but it can all be in my head LOL :P Also thanks bro
-
they don't do anything, topres make noise when traveling back upwards
-
LOL they dont do anything for keytravel. I know for noise theres no difference, however I love the noise anways. thanks everyone.

They do something on some caps, most notably, Cherry profile caps that are shorter. For tall OEM caps, they do nothing. Honestly, I think CM included them specifically for Cherry profile caps instead of re-engineering the board to prevent clacking.

lol they had a placeboo effect ahaha. But I dont mind he noise at all I love the noise on this its my first ever topre and fav switch ever

I believe the post Spamray meant was actually this one: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=65821.msg1542628#msg1542628
The orings only raise the keycap off the stem a bit so they don't impact the housings or plate. It also could make the bottom out feel a little different as the oring may touch the housing, but it doesn't change the actual travel distance.

hmm if anyone of u guys have a novatouch do u guys prefer o rings or u guys see no difference at all. I wonder why they give them with it LOL

I don't like o-rings on topre.
It just reduces that "thock" that topre is so well known for.

If you want to reduce the upstroke noise you have to perform a silencing mod on your NT.

It doesn't. I have spent time studying what they do, explained it thoroughly, and even posted pictures.
If it does any noise reduction for you, it's because your keycaps hit the top of the housings.
There is no way the Thock can be affected.
