Title: keycool tenkeyless problem
Post by: LunaRose on Tue, 27 January 2015, 08:12:41
Hi, i just recieved the keycool tenkeyless hero glow 87 and i have a problem. The f12 key is illuminated and no key on the keyboard seems to do anything. at first i thought it was locked as there is a lock type symbol on the tilde but no matter what combination of fn + tilde or fn +f12 i press i cannot get the keyboard to work :(

has anyone else had this issue or knows how to fix it?

help would be greatly apreciated.

edit: its this keyboard: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/keycool-87-key-keyboard

The lock icon and LED on F12 is to enable "GAME mode" which is intended to lock out keypresses from the Windows key during a gaming session.

Has the keyboard ever worked? Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in? Will it work on any other PC?

If it still won't work after you try those couple things, I'm afraid you received a lemon, and should contact Massdrop (assuming that's where you bought it) for a replacement.

It worked when i first plugged it in. I then turned it upside down to secure the usb cable as it was not in the cable slot and when i turned it the right way up it was like this.
If i press fn + f12 again it still does nothing. ill try it in another pc now.

Could also be a bad cable. The controller shouldn't have fallen out of the socket (assuming it is socketed) just by turning it upside down...

Don't those LEDs indicate a certain mode? Like winkey disabled or something? Your manual should have some info on that.

Thanks for the suggestions though they were very much apreciated.

Could be a defective cable, and you happened to get it back into the correct position.

If it happens again, try a different cable.

Also (if it happens again) try gently wiggling the socket where the cable plugs into the keyboard.
