Make sure you boil the water first, otherwise you risk getting brain eating parasites.

Not kidding.

Of course, Of course..  (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/073.gif)

Also.. DO NOT use nasal rinse everyday..

Daily use will dilute your mucus so much, that it reduces the mucus's ability to fight off incoming germs and irritants..

mucus contains antigens to fight germs....

However, the system can become suboptimal in terms of piping over time, because pollutants in the air are far more numerous in modern day..

So.. once a week is good enough..

There is a speck of truth in this. Nasal rinse is probably OK on the rare occasion, but it can be overdone.

Yup (http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/2014/05/14/brain-eating-amoebas-and-saltwater-nose-genies/). Gotta love that brain necrosis

Quote
The CDC states that N. fowleri infection via nasal irrigation can be prevented by using pre-boiled water, distilled water or water filtered with an absolute pore-size of less than 1 micron. I later found out that this information had been stated explicitly in the neti pot directions that I had discarded. It was a sad moment when I realized that my laziness might result in my dying the most terrifying of deaths.

Some Key safety information:

Drying Rinse bottle: Drying appears to make trophozoites nonviable instantaneously and cysts nonviable in <5 minutes..

___keeping the equipment dry after use is important..

Survival Temperature:The trophozoites and cysts can survive from minutes to hours at 122-149°F (50-65°C)

___  Boiling the water for 1 minute, should absolutely kill it..

ALSO:

you can disinfect the equipment by Boiling it.. assuming it's dishwasher safe.

I prefer Neti Pot, it is like a tea party for your nose.

I wanted to get a neti-pot at first righ..  but I couldn't find one that I could fit my hand into to clean..

So I figured, I might as well just get those disposable bottles instead..

That's misleading.
British people don't use teapots.
