Title: Newbie questions after buying my first keycap set
Post by: deadmuse on Tue, 03 February 2015, 21:22:01
I bought Signature Plastics' white ABS (http://"http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/products/full-keysets/standard-dcs-double-shot-abs-sets") set to use on my Logitech G710+ keyboard. I love the look and feel, but I have some concerns because the height of caps on the same rows is uneven.  For example: the "x" key stands higher than the "z" and "c" keys that surround it. The "g" and "h" keys are higher than "f" and "j."

Is this normal? All the key caps are pressed all the way down, so it's not an installation issue. None of the white keys have o-rings installed.

My guess would be that what you think is "pressed all the way down" isn't actually, you actually need to press really hard--if it's your first set you might be hesitant to apply enough force, but some SP sets can fit really tight, and your switches will be fine.

The bottom of the stem most likely isn't fitting all the way. . They shouldn't be like that.

You got it exactly right. I pressed them in with more force than my newbie sense thought necessary and all the offending caps are sitting at the proper level now.

Thanks both Noko and fknraiden. I almost didn't post, thinking this was some ergonomic typist design I had never noticed before. Cheers!

If they are a little bit tight, just be careful when you remove them.

Your link is broken, I think the right one is this (http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/products/full-keysets/standard-dcs-double-shot-abs-sets). Just in case someone needs it.
