Just came across this post at Lifehacker.com
http://lifehacker.com/5339979/show-us-your-keyboard
Hopefully will ddevelop into something interesting.

That is just so depressing. I just don't understand why people love some of those crappy rubber dome boards. Of the posts up right now only 2 people have expressed that they like a good mechanical board (Model M and a cherry deck board). I was going to make a post but you have to be a member to submit a picture so ended up not posting anything at all.
-
So far so bad.
Except for that M2, it's membrane boards all over.
Let see how it goes.

They don't know any better. Mechanical keyboards have such a small market share, and you're also aware that these boards are HIGH END luxury machines.
This is actually deja vu for me since there's another community with which I have/had affiliation with, regarding Windows desktop interface customization, who share the same sentiments for Lifehacker's "Featured Desktops." Suddenly the opinions you hold may be perceived as elitist compared to what gets popularly featured or approved by the masses.

I've wondered if I should register and throw up a pic of the 122-key 1386887...
Might shock their systems a bit; it might even send some to the hospital.
I was thinking the same but I was going to post a pick of my dyed HHKB Pro 2. But I think your idea is better that 122-key Model M would really throw them for a loop. Or maybe one of those monster Terminal boards.
-
We should definitely hijack that post and post the most obscure boards we own.

It's not all bad. You have to look at some of the older posts. I see:
Das II and III
Filco Majestouch FKBN87MC/NPEK
Compaq MX 11800
Model M
Deck Mini
-
Post all your keyboards... some here would make their heads asplode:faint2:
I wonder if they have a reply limit that would cut posts short?
Monster terminal boards are good... and another excuse to post a picture of my Wang :-) though it is bigger than average, rather than a monster.
-
I am somewhat tempted to post a pic of my Model F. Maybe later...

Das II and III
Filco Majestouch FKBN87MC/NPEK
Compaq MX 11800
Model M
Deck Mini
And also a black on black Unicomp
My bad... I didn't click "show hidden thread" before posting.
-
Looks like webwit has already posted his fingerworks board. But man there are two of them listed already. Click that show hidden to see them one at the top and one at the bottom.
-
just added my Filco in the list =D
-
Come on guys, lets all sign up for accounts and show em some real boards! I can put up a couple of Model Ms…
Hopefully if we're friendly enough the "thought police" won't hit us too hard.
-
At least there is some love for Cherry blues in the form of Das keyboard - which is pretty good if you manage to type slower than 50 WPM.
-
yeah the lifehacker / "get things done" crowd are an extremely humorless bunch
-
Yeah they're completely humorless, but I suppose it comes from having the "funny stuff wastes everyone's time" mindset. If you're going to post your keyboard, lay off the jokes, and put in a comment about how much more productive you are with a mechanical keyboard.

Yeah I love internet sub communities like that. If someone is so important they don't have time for a personality, then what the hell are they doing on a tech blog. There's no excuse for being socially bankrupt

what the...
*unsubscribes from lifehacker feed*
Internet is apparently too much srs bsns for some.
-
Just showed them my Wang ;-)
I wonder if *that* will get through their censorship.

Browsed through the current thread
Deck User: I've been only using it a week or so, but so far, pretty happy with my Deck mini keyboard. The illuminated switches are great and I like the feel of mechanical switches.
Curious Guy's reply: What exactly are mechanical switches, and how are they different from a regular keyboard? That does look pretty sweet.
That was me six months ago, mechanical keyboards were a virtual unknown for me, now I own six of them :)
-
well here's the best argument yet as to why unicomp is going to go out of business, I guess.
has someone enlightened the lifehackers as to geekhack's existence?
-
Where's my Model F post? It was a completely serious and humorless post, and no sign of it >.<
-
This is getting Beyond Bizarre.
I posted a Model M mini with humorless comments and it gets rejected.
A Dell Rubber Dome just got posted.
Maybe they got your IP adress blacklisted for some inane reason?
-
Lame.
-
I didn't get through, but there was a picture clearly showing the logo on my Wang. I even kept the post gray and humourless.
Maybe they thought my Wang was too big for their inturwebs?
-
As was said before, you apparently have to be pre-approved to have your posts show up.
-
Anyone who's auditioned successfully can become a Lifehacker commenter.
I think they've been watching too much X-Factor.
-
Profound.
-
My account was activated by them yesterday and I also can't get my Model M to be accepted even with a decent comment on why the M is preferred over other keyboards.
Ah well..
