legit curious and I don't know how to search the google phrase. i got alot of stuff about christians raping women in basements -_-
feel free to correct me on this:
as I understand the bible, it states that Eve came from the rib bone of Adam. is that correct?
from what I know of biology (and i know this pretty damn well in general):
when an egg is fertilized and development occurs properly, everyone is essentially a female. it is not until later that the 'y chromosome kicks in' and we can start testing if the newborn baby will be a boy or girl.
biology says the complete OPPOSITE of the bible (once again, persuming i understand that part of the bible). I just realized this a little while ago and thought it was kinda funny. I've personally never seen or heard this issue brought up before. is it a point of debate? do judaism and islam follow the same 'women come from men' genesis concept?

I would say there are all ready plenty of other things you could pick apart in Genesis. Many Christians are still brought up with some scientific education and understand that evolution is true and that the world probably wasn't made in a literal 7 days. Instead, the seven days could refer to a longer period or in a more general sense just act as a nice story attempting to explain where we come from. I think the same look helps console other issues such as the one you have pointed out.
Needless to say, I personally find it difficult to follow everything the Bible says as 100% literal and factual truth. And to those that do often have a more crazy view of the world, denouncing science and more proven facts in the name of "faith". It's the same crazy fact that makes some parents not get their child medical support since it was "God's choice" for him to pass away.

yes of course.
i'm legitimately curious. I thought I was wellversed in all of the debate topics. This is potentially another topic that is talked about that I really didn't have any data about; I just thought it was important to inform myself.

The real 180-degree-from-reality portion of the creation myth:
It was the good positive helpful deity who instructed man to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge.
The evil one was the one who said "don't eat"

The Bible is a collection of stories written hundreds, if not thousands, of years after their supposed occurrence. Proving anything in the book to be true via any scientific research, methods, or theories is very difficult. When the stories were written, modern science didn't even exist. You have to accept the stories on faith. As foolish as it might be, faith is an important part of being human, whether you are a Christian or read the Bible or not. I think we humans might need faith in something, anything in order to live a long and happy life. I can certainly understand why people have an impulsion to understand things larger than themselves.
I'm keen for this topic because I had a discussion about Jesus, Christianity, the Bible, and faith this morning with this woman reading the Bible in a coffee shop. It was the finest first impression conversation that I've had with a random human being in my entire life. I don't identify myself as Christian or religious or anything, but we just chatted about whatever came to mind simply based on her choice of reading. I'm in love. All I got was her name. And now, I'll walk around for the rest of my days knowing I let the love of my life slip away. I was willing to become a Jesus lover.
Truthfully, I'll forget about her in a week, unless I see her around the neighborhood, because we both live in the same neighborhood. Maybe I should get out more often.

Correct.

Again, correct.

Not really sure how you got to the notion that it's the complete opposite of the Bible. First off, most serious religious scholars take creation myths as metaphor. For all we know, the notion of being created from the dust of the earth is a metaphor for the boiling soup that created the first life form. Perhaps the creation from a rib is mitosis. Who knows, after all, how can you have a literal notion of what happened if there was no language and it was prior to man's own existence?
Secondly, what does being created from the rib of one have anything to do with the birth process? The creation myth of man is one of companionship and the creation of diversity, not one of procreation and the cause of sexual development and dimorphism.
do judaism and islam follow the same 'women come from men' genesis concept?
All Abrahamic religions share the same creation myth. Judaism is tends to be matrilineal while Christianity and Islam tend to be patrilineal.
I find "gotchas" like you're trying to ask about to be asinine and pointless. Instead of trying to prove someone's faith is wrong, you should be challenging them to be more like the good in their faith. I'm agnostic and non-religious, but every religion has some beauty and truth in it. That's what should be focused on and that's where you should be challenging people. Religion is in the sorry state it is today since people abuse it, make it a tool for their own twisted views, and aren't challenged enough to be the good in their religion. So next time you want to debate a Christian, challenge them if they're judgmental, challenge them if they're gay bashers, challenge them if they're anti-tax, challenge them if they tithe less than 10%, challenge them if they look down upon the poor and homeless and say that they should be pulling them up by their boot straps. All of these things are places where the Bible is very clear about how you should act, yet you see so few who actually live it. After all of that, remind them that if they are neither hot nor cold, they will be spit out and their faith will be found wanting.

I don't interpret the story about the eviction from Paradise as a story about good and evil but as an analogy to teach a fundamental lesson about the human condition: With sentience comes responsibility.
As the supreme race on this planet, we have to take care of ourselves, and we have to take care of Earth. Nobody else will do it for us.

The moral stuff is generally OK, for what it is.
The problem with religion is that whenever it sticks its nose into science or politics, it gets it wrong.
If it would just stay within its area of expertise, we would all be a lot better off.

...
this is offtopic, so i'll be quick.
while i find the notion of faith rather ridiculous, i'm not honestly against it in anyway since i don't think it hurts people really.
religion is an entirely different beast though and i'm not sure why you're grouping them together.
more on topic, catholics specifically have been 'rewriting' texts to better fit a textbook format (eg intelligent design) . i was curious if this aspect had been rewritten yet.

when an egg is fertilized and development occurs properly, everyone is essentially a female. it is not until later that the 'y chromosome kicks in' and we can start testing if the newborn baby will be a boy or girl.
When an egg is fertilized, everyone is a single-celled organism with no sex organs and no independent life.
What’s your definition of “essentially female”? By one definition, a fertilized egg has either XX or XY chromosomes (or less commonly just one or three sex chromosomes), and is thus already either “male” or “female”; by another definition, a fertilized egg doesn’t really have a sex yet at all.
I can’t see how this has anything remotely to do with the bible, which is a book written by various humans >1000 years before microscopes, when we didn’t have a very sophisticated understanding of the technical details of the reproduction process.
