Title: Hello!
Post by: abenntt on Sat, 07 February 2015, 17:49:28
I am new so I thought I would introduce myself as the forum suggests. I found GeekHack a while ago when the sickness that is mechanical keyboards first got its hands on me and I have been reading ever since. I currently have 3 mechs and have a custom built JD-40 in the way. Anyways, that's all for now!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Did Margo build your JD40?  Nice choice either way :)

What are your other keyboards?

Yeah the JD-40 by Margo's Mods is on the way. I'm super excited because I've heard only good things.
My other mechs are both Razer, a Blackwidow Chroma and a default Blackwidow classic. I love the keyboards but I don't love how they feel. I like that I can make something my own and prebuilt massive company keyboards just don't do it.

Hey :) Welcome to Geekhack. I am brand spanking new to posting but I lurked a while ago like you. Now I am losing money hand over fist, the bank has come to take my house and I have sold everything I own, but at least I have some nice clacks to keep me warm at night. Welcome to the club  :p

The Blackwidows are not, shall we say, the highest quality.  You'd be surprised how much variation there can be with something so small as a keyboard switch, but many people have said how solid and reliable other keyboard brands feel compared to BW.

Yeah, I agree. They are functional but they are not great. I don't like the size and the caps feel off so I don't use them.

Out of curiosity, is the JD40 for usage or is it more of a collector's item? I can see it being kind of annoying if you ever need to type numbers or symbols.

I'm pretty sure it's more of a collector's piece. I wouldn't own something that tiny until I've got something like an F 122-key to balance it out.

It can certainly be used, but it is also programmable, so you could program easy access to whatever keys you need the most.
