Title: Alps keyboard, no minimum bid
Post by: Ludovician on Tue, 10 February 2015, 18:50:54
I'm not certain this one is mechanical but in case there's any interest for it I'll post it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alps-Keyboard-MGM-106-in-Vintage-Apple-Keyboard-box-/251830077616?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa23e08b0#shpCntId

I would probably have kept quiet and tried to snipe low for it myself if it didn't cost $43 to ship here. Not worth that price for something so experimental.

That is a strange duck.

The Apple Design Keyboard was really bad, I don't think I would use that box as a selling feature.

At first I thought it might be nice for some caps, but they are obviously pad-printed.

Note, the box is not for this particular keyboard (and says so in the ebay description). I’ve never seen an Alps branded keyboard with erase-ease, interesting. I’m guessing some kind of rubber dome, but it’s hard to tell.

In case anyone ever comes across this topic later, here are the images saved from ebay, where they'll eventually vanish:

The keyboard is an Alps MGM-106 with a glidepoint trackpad, FCC ID: CWTCMEASC.

Again, I’m guessing Alps domes, but I could be totally wrong about that.

For 7¢ I couldn’t pass this up. When I get it, I’ll report back about the switch type.

Cheers mate! Yeah I'd have bought it as well if it didn't have to be shipped across the Atlantic xD .

White Alps (or black Alps) also seems pretty plausible. If so, $8 shipped is a good price for a close-to-new board. Even if it’s a dome thingy, The tiny spacebars could be useful.

It's a cool board, for sure. The only bad bit is the half size backspace / big ass enter. Half sized backspaces are of the devil.

Haha well I'm not actually British, but yeah, it sucks to have to pay so much shipping. For some reason the Americans seem to have many more old keyboards than any Europe (I have a theory as to why but I'm not 100% sure).

A lot of the 'computer revolution' was centred around the US... but then again, there shouldn't be such a big deficit over here.
