They won't have a removable USB because it's too "unreliable". SMH

i mean, that's not wrong

they're usually pretty unreliable, and it can turn off a lot of people

that's the same reason filco does it, and the same reason a KUL looks like it shouldn't be removable

just my $0.02, and i like removable cables

We'll see how the WASD V2s hold up. I can't imagine many people are connecting/disconnecting the cable from their keyboard several times a day.

Honestly even if you are plugging it in and out daily it should hold up for at least a couple of years. My Nexus 4 is still going strong after nearly 2 years and I never have problems with the connection. It's shoddy workmanship that causes the connectors to come loose.

That pad printing + UV coat is cringe worthy. "More durable than ABS/PBT/POM". Ok. You save the letters, but the ABS keycap that's not coated becomes shiny. Genius!

"Greetech" switches? First time I've heard of these. I know of Gaote (same as Gateron or different?) and Kaihua (Kailh), but never heard of Greetech.

Mostly these Q&A sessions are just a PR exercise. They don't answer the hard questions or cover their answers in BS, like when they try to explain how their rubbish pad printed keycaps are great. Reminds me of that Cherry representative interview. You don't learn anything much and the PR rep comes off sounding like an ass, with marketing-speak all over the place.

BTW, love the ripster image linked to by the rep trying to answer Dihedral's post about the caps  :))

Someone forgot to explain that deep knowledge about unreliable USB connectors to my Poker and Leopold keyboards, so they are happily working on removable USB cables for more than three years so far.

Agreed with all the comments about the caps, those things look horrible. Considering how cheap double-shot caps are these days I don't know how they thought this was a good idea. Trying to tout this as a premium board is just hilarious.

I dunno, my experience has been that pad printing actually lasts a lot longer than its reputation suggests. I find that laser etching with paint starts to show visible fade after only a few days, while pad printed characters can stay nice for months or even years.

Of course, given the price that DAS is charging for this product, I would want to see some kind of USP for it. It's okay by me if it's not the keycaps, since cheap keycaps seldom have any effect on the functionality of the device, but if they're going to go cheap there, I would want there to be some rare advantage elsewhere to make up for it. And I'm not seeing that right now.

Yeah, that was golden. No idea how acetone actually relates to real world wear but it supported his point so he went along with it.

Given recent developments in the industry, for many manufacturers, it seems the only avenues open to innovation are corner-cutting and marketing.   What's next?  Topre marketing standard rubber dome as the next great evolution of electrostatic capacitive switches?
