Someone tell me if it's any good before I waste my time.
Am a big Breaking Bad fan, but don't wanna get preliminarily mad at a bull**** spjnoff if it's actually good. Is it?
-
I have heard that it is good, although I haven't watched it myself yet.
-
If you enjoyed Breaking Bad then you'll like Better Call Saul. It's only 2 episodes in at the moment but it provides nice context on some of the characters from Breaking Bad. The cinematography is great and is consistent with Breaking Bad which was one of my favorite aspects of the show.
-
I enjoyed the first 2 episodes very much.
-
aight, do love me some Odenkirk :D
-
First 2 episodes was too good to be a spin-off.
It's dark. And it's humorous.

Seconded. The show is definitely worth your time so far.
-
will have to give it a watch... was just as skeptical as noisy, but with these recommendations i'll have to reconsider...
-
Yeah, I have really enjoyed it so far. And I was a Breaking Bad fan since about the middle of the second season, when I found it.
Let's be honest. Vince Gilligan is brilliant. He could write a spin-off/mashup of Lost and Gilligan's Island and it would be the best thing on TV. :)

is it soooo good that I should wait until it completes the run, and watch it all at once..
Or is it just so-so, and I should watch it weekly

Can anyone explain what's with the Chuck McGill character? Is he mentally ill, or does he have a legitimate physical health issue like a pacemaker or something? They never explain it, and knowing what's wrong with him would provide a ton of context to his relationship with Saul.
Also the show is pretty good, but at times I feel like it's just pandering to fans. Great writing though.

That's kinda the point. We're supposed to wonder what's wrong with him.

Yeah, I'm dying for the Mike plot to pick up. Always wanted to know how he and Saul hooked up.
Also hoping for Huell will make an appearance. ^-^

They're definitely bringing in Huell.. I mean.. he's just too likeable.. though ... for a rather less than noble reason.. since.. health and such..
sigh......

It's just the beginning showing the gradual rise of Jimmy McGill, from where he is currently sitting, at the absolute bottom of the legal food chain he has nowhere to go except up. That is why I love Gilligan's real life portrayal of people showing everyone out there what it's like to walk in certain character's shoes.
I think with this 3rd episode Jimmy will gain great strides within his own profession because the Kettleman's will deliver him his accolade which in my opinion is justly deserved. Being a Lawyer in America isn't easy and you need to start somewhere in building your standing amongst the crimms and sicko's that exist within that country. Everyone needs a Good Lawyer, it's almost a national constitutional right to be well represented in the Legal System hence I love watching this show and kudo's to all the other fanatics out there who have that exact same feeling as I do.
Saul Goodman is on his way people so I guess we'll get a lot more high's and lows with this guy as time moves on.

I just watched the third episode after re-watching the first two... damn I am totally hooked, can't wait to see what's next. The interaction between Mike & Jimmy in the second & third episodes had me cracking up, I really want to know what's up with Chuck (how'd he go from lawyer to space blanket wearing weirdo?) and what's the past history between Jimmy & Kim (ex-wife/lover?)... so many questions!
Vince Gilligan is the man.
-
Just finished all three episodes and now was wondering how did I ever continue my life without continuous Vince Gillegan TV shows?
-
The Kim not-quite-girlfriend is wonderful and hot but I wonder what she sees in him?
Just randomly walking out miles into the desert and zeroing in on the campsite within just a couple of hours is stretching it pretty thin.

No she is not hot.. what?
Wait.. is this one of those, you're older, and think every younger female is h0t thing?

Yeah, that bit bothered me too. It was a huge blight on an otherwise great episode. No one would ever do that literally all day walking in a desert in a suit based on a whim, that was ****ing stupid. Could they not come up with a more sensible way for Saul to find them?

Well, Nacho did tell him he needed to be out by the end of the day. Considering that, I don't think it's that stupid.

FACT, I've walked for 9 hours straight in the Gibson Desert back in my early 30's looking for an abandoned mineshaft which only measured 110cm across :thumb: .
If you are absolutely committed in finding something you shall overcome every sort of hardship in attaining it, almost like looking for salvation which is what Gilligan wanted to portray in Jimmy. GREAT things only come to those that are willing to risk everything including their own lives to achieve an outcome.

I absolutely believe you.
However, how large an area were you searching? And presumably you were doing it logically in a grid or spiral or something that made sense.
Saul was shown walking through multiple different types of terrain, as if following an invisible path, but I doubt seriously that he has any tracking skills to speak of .....

The grid I was working off is segmented into a single 160 square kilometers, which was my search area. Just walked in a semi spiral track and came across it by pure accident, everyone was saying I was making it up that no old abandoned mine shafts existed in that area but I staked by rep on it that I'll find it, despite the useless satellite data that showed everyone that nothing was there.
Some times there is no substitute to using nothing else but your own eyes and guts in finding something. All you have is pure instinct which determines whether you are telling the truth or confirms to everyone you're a bullsh1t artist, after that find my Company promoted me big time.
With Gilligan's story he is literally showing everyone that Jimmy has nothing to lose in walking out into scrub land looking for the Kettleman's BECAUSE you will die if you don't find them. It's what we men call our salvation, we either find it there or we lose our lives, there's no middle ground because life is not about taking it easy and selecting the SAFE options (particularly when you have none). Sometimes you take a punt, an extreme gamble if you like to see what happens and if you come up trumps then everything you suffered for was worth while.
For Jimmy everything came up trumps, the worst if he failed was that Nacho kills him but when you consider how awful his life was that may of been a blessing.
