Title: Join Tp4's Startup...
Post by: tp4tissue on Fri, 13 February 2015, 06:32:08
Upfront statement to GHers..

Yes, Tp4 admits that Tp4 usually posts unnerving-nonsense.. (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/th_057_.gif)

This however, is not one of those posts..

I realize the person I am looking for below may be very specific..

But, there's always a chance..

An Electronics-Startup partner..

This is not a cell-phone or a keyboard or computer input related..

Benefits:

-  This is an "Adventure", not a JOB..

-  We will be taking on some of the biggest heavy weight powers of the business world.. < including potentially negotiating with local triads/gangsters >

-  The Project will involve a ton of time "in Mainland China"

-  Mainland China living accommodations Provided!!

-  (China party expenses, NOT provided, clubbing, drinking, gambling)

-  You get to work with Tp4.. a super fun guy..

-  Lower living expense than USA, considering there will be no RENT..

Requirements:

1.

College Graduate... No GPA requirement...  You can have a 1.0 for all I care, as long as I can tell you're competent and 87% lucid.

2.

Speak fluent Mandarin... No need to Read/Write, (you will be required to learn r/w as time passes)

--  "NO, you do not have to be Chinese, you can be white / black / brown, but you must speak-fluent-Mandarin.."

3.

Speak fluent English... Reading and Writing coherently...

4.

If you're age 20-30

<important> Your parents aren't pushing you to "kill-your-dreams, and get-a-job"

Must specify, This is NOT A JOB..

If you are age 30+

----- You must be upfront about your current obligations such as family, divorced family, major credit debt...

5.

Mechanical-Engineering experience preferred.

6.

2nd Preference, Marketing-experience.

Feel free to post any questions or PM me if details are personal..

OH.. must add,  No, this is not my multicoil rice-cooker idea, that's just a side hobby for me.. (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/069.gif)

The base camp is being determined right now..

The family has empty apartments in all major cities..

Right now I am waiting to hear back from another partner whose preference is either Beijing or Shanghai, because he will have other projects in tandem which will require the business connections in those cities.

The timing to base deploy will happen in april - may..

I want to do this "before" the summer hits the city.. 115 Fah (46 Cel)

(YES) the apartments have air conditioning..

What's not to like? International travel, dealing with gangsters and no pay!

Um.. YES... I can understand the sarcasm you've cast here..

The truth is, doing business in China, you can not get away from gangsters... They're a major local power...  Because they're responsible for a majority of the money-laundering setups..

NO, this business will NOT be taking money from gangsters...  If we do deal with them, it will be for protection, or to remove simple obstacles such as public disputes.

As for "no pay"  well, if you think about it, rent alone will make up for that in 2 months time..

You get to be in another country, see and work in new environments with new people..

How many other startups offer that potential for exploration + free rent for the duration of the stay ?

I realize there are sketchy modeling agencies from Japan that lure poverty stricken young girls from overseas which offer something similar.. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE..

This is NOT a modeling agency...

You will be doing mechanical engineering and marketing..

What else should I know?

There is a specific plan for market penetration..

So I can not reveal certain details unless I can be reasonably sure you're serious and qualified..

This will have to go to Skype.. PM for details..

hahaha..

The startup has already begun,  proof of concept prototypes completed..

Mark 1 complete prototype in build stage..

Primary work right now is patents and regulation..

The China portion will be some patents work + production..

I was talking to -azhdar- , who is a native frenchman with english/french..

And we covered how it wouldn't be as fun of a startup if he didn't get to go to China.. as we wouldn't get that buddy-buddy experience..

He may consider doing a trial run of chinese learning.

If the rate of which can fit into our time-table..We can delay the production outlook until the FALL of this year, that will give roughly 7 to 8 months of intensive chinese learning time..

According to wiki, chinese requires 2200 hours to learn for westerners..  It should not be that long given some diligence..

As far as wife and kids..  this is electronics.. so only our production will be done in China,  once that is sorted,  one can return to America and fly by wire..

There will always be stuff on the murica' pond that needs sorting..

You can learn a language much more easily if you are immersed in it.

If you sit in a classroom with someone teaching you, it can take a year to learn it with fluency. That time drops dramatically if you immerse yourself with native speakers. When no one will speak your native language to you, you are sort of forced to learn their language or starve :D

hahahahahahahaha...

I'm surprised no one brought up ramen prior to this..

But it's electronics.. not ramen related...

Although working at the startup we will certainly have many ramen meals together..

Test question 1..

God-forbid:

One of our team-members is being blackmailed by a prostitute whose pimp is with the local gang. Team-member has barricaded himself in the hotel room, and calls you to come save him..

-- What do you do?

Test question 2..

Our assembly facility has been getting lots of traffic.. It attracts the local drug gang as a potential market..

-- What do you do?

Test question 3..

One of our employees'  boyfriend is a local gang member, she dies, her rotten boyfriend who never actually loved her uses this as leverage to blackmail our facilities..

-- What do you do?

Slap the Triad 小弟 and tell him to 吃屎 and get off my business because his Triad 大哥 is actually my younger cousin who owes his life to me.

Better solution to everything?
Form our own Triad and take over all the turf we need for your business. I can be VP of Triad Operations in your startup and assume the role of managing the company's Triad organization which will effectively reduce company expenditure and improve company morale. You won't have to pay ridiculous protection fees and no thugs will come around to mess with yo **** because all the local thugs will be under my control.

Ideally , we will want to meet the local Dai Lou before setting up shop, if the area is seedy to begin with..

Um... all of those solutions WOULD work if the Dai Lou was actually your younger cousin..

But if he actually isn't..  your method would only work for question 1, because it's dark at night and we can get out of there without being recognized days later..

I can only hope our guy wasn't dumb enough to get girls in the morning.. oh god.. it's over if he did that.. we can't possibly save him..

Hmm.. this reminds me..  I am going to have to write some preventative measures/policies towards such actions and orientate any prospective members accordingly.. Thx Sygaldry

The other 2 questions involve dealing with m0re gangsters at once.. I'm afraid a bluff will not work..

Were I still single and looking for an adventure, I wouldn't even consider this without pay, or at least the prospect of a big payday at the end. You've promised no compensation, only "adventure", and that makes this a bad deal.

My thought too.  Start ups typically have venture capital, angels, or the person starting it up has a nest egg saved up to invest into it and they pay the people who are doing the work.  They may work well below the market rate due to getting deferred compensation, stock options, or other things that will pay off if the company takes off, but they aren't unpaid.  Unpaid work for housing is called slavery.

- Yes, internally funded as to production costs

-- original projected cost was 100 to be done in the USA...

-- new plan is to do it in China for around 50...

- Yes, if the startup is profitable, you will get a fair share relative to your contribution

- No, I don't know how much you'll get eventually, because this is a startup with uncertainty, dissimilar to a job, which I've indicated..

Preciate then interest then...

But this startup needs mandarin because we will be looking through many factories for parts manufacturing..

And we'll also need as much man power as possible to get through preliminary patenting in china..

-- even if china doesn't have much patent enforcement, and we couldn't afford a legal battle..   it's still prudent to have the documentations done..
