Yeah, same here. If only that price (and those keyboards) had been around before I paid a stupid amount to get that broken one from taobao. :(

And can't forget the eBay fiasco with the Canadian seller who sent me an M-122...

Don't forget, you can always put an Xwhatsit in them if the original controller was bad for whatever reason.

Of at least a dozen F-122s that have passed through my hands, only 2 did not work.
One was mine, but, unfortunately, one belonged to someone else and he was very disappointed.

No, but I did bring one back to life that was killed by a milkshake or a syrupy alcoholic drink (can't remember which) being spilled into it.

I have some great news, I got the beast working just this instant! Using an xwhatsit replacement controller. :D

No longer disappointed.

Man oh man, I'm so stoked right now! fohat.digs did an ANSI mod to the 122 for me, replaced the mat, and painted the barrel plate and the top case. Now it works with this new controller. fohat.digs does excellent work, my friends. :D :) :))

Ouch. Sorry that happened to you, too. I hate that these sellers are doing this. I was hoping I would be the only one to get burned like this. It's probably more likely to happen when the seller has multiple units for sale. That's what happened to me. Several people got F-122s, but the seller shipped me an M-122, because he thought they were 'basically the same.' This was over a year ago.

Ouch.  I'm going to guess this is an honest mistake on the seller's part.

If you look in the first picture of the listing you can see an M above the board being photographed...

Thanks for the replies fellas. This sucks, but it could be worse. I'm going to request a refund and see where things go from there.

Well, with ebay, you are guaranteed to be covered the full item cost including the return shipping if the completely wrong item it received whether the seller agrees or not. Best to contact them first though rather than opening an "item not as described" case.  They may also have the correct keyboard that they can exchange it for.

Actually, unless it has changed, you have to pay return shipping. They refund your original price including shipping, but you have to pay to return it. But maybe this has changed.

You don't have to pay return shipping if the item is not as described, regardless of what the seller claims as their return policy.

From eBay support, when I opened the case:

"Hi XXXXXXXXXX,

We let the seller know the item wasn't as described.
The seller has offered you a full refund for the purchase price plus original shipping if you return the item. To get your refund, ship the item back to the seller. You will need to cover the cost of returning the item. Make sure you ship the item by Jan 27, 2014.

Refund information:
Once the item is delivered to the seller, you will receive a full refund of $78.00.The refund will include the purchase price plus original shipping.

You can view the details of this case and learn what you need to do to ship the item back in the Resolution Center."

"If you're returning an item because it isn't as described in the listing, the seller is responsible for return shipping charges."

I even called them on the phone and explained why it was dumb of them to ask me to cover return shipping for the seller's mistake. They wouldn't budge. In the end, I just worked out a partial refund with the seller, and kept the M-122.

I'm so glad they have a clear policy on returns now.

I requested a refund from the seller. They got back to me saying it was most likely an error in shipping, and they would be re-sending the correct model. I got a tracking number for the replacement last night.

Fingers crossed!

they still haven't gotten back to me yet... got an M-122 also...

there is no way it was an error in shipping... they had one F, made a cheap listing for multiple Fs, and sent out Ms instead...

especially considering the images in the listing clearly showed Model F, along with Model F (with model #s) in the descriptions, and the difference between Model M and F being instantly recognizable... this ebay seller was trying to rip us off...

I just got off the phone with eBay regarding another issue and brought this up during the conversation as a side topic. The rep I spoke to was very clear about it. If an item is not as described in the listing then the seller is responsible for return shipping. However, if a buyer simply doesn't want an item after receiving it, then return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Needless to say the rep you spoke to was misinformed.

Sucks to hear that, man.

I don't mean to salt the wound, but I received my replacement Model F 122-key this morning. Dirty as all hell, but definitely a Model F.

Hopefully the seller gets back to you soon with either a refund or a replacement...
