Hey everyone - new here and figured I'd start with an intro thread.
I love to do stuff myself, and I'm already handy with a soldering iron so I figured building a keyboard would be fun. I have access to a laser cutter through work so I'd like to DIY as much of a build as I can. Im mostly envisioning a TKL with a sandwich type construction. I'd probably hand wire and use something like a teensy. If anyone has any case/plate designs for that already I'd love to see them! I haven't owned a mech in probably a decade so it'll be fun to get back into it.
Here's my little corner of the basement where I'll put it together.

Outside of that I work in IT (Devops), and mostly with Linux. My daily PC is a MBP with a dualboot of ubuntu and yosemite. I enjoy building custom xbox controllers too. Here's a small gallery of some I've built: http://imgur.com/a/ijUH9

Welcome to Geekhack!
There are lots of resources in making stuff together (https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=117.0), and quite a few GHers have designed and/or built their own keyboards, so your endeavours will be more than welcome :)
