Title: Aluminum Case for Shine 3
Post by: Dark_wizzie on Tue, 17 February 2015, 02:37:14
I want a TKL keyboard with very, very good build quality and an aluminum casing. The Ducky Shine 4 doesn't come in TKL, the Ducky Legend doesn't come in TKL. Ducky Shine 3s are out of stock in so many places I've lost count. Fortunately I have parents in taiwan that can look for me and a guy who is willing to sell me one for $180 shipped. Still leaves the case though. I was thinking of the Vortex one (http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=212). The MKC cases can't really be bought anymore, right?

Too bad I can't get a Shine 4, get a knife, slice off the numpad, and make a TKL.  ;) Brown switch, blue led, aluminum, that would be awesome. Anybody have any suggestions on what to do for the case? I hope the aftermarket case will be as sturdy if not sturdier than the Ducky's default case... Not just on the outside, but to protect the innards of the keyboard too. Yeah, I'd have to smash the keyboard with a hammer to care about the extra protection but it fulfills my inner desires, ok?  :D

that case doesn't work with ducky boards.  the ducky plate is too wide.  are you planning on filing the plate to size?

Are you sure? I know somebody who used the Vortex case with his Shine 3 and he didn't tell me about any problems.
