Title: Coffee and Butter
Post by: SpAmRaY on Tue, 24 February 2015, 13:06:28
So this is making the rounds again on the news, must be the third or fourth time now. I know it is old news been out for a while now.

I could not find a thread about this already.

So does anywhere here do coffee and butter?

i was very interested once i saw it in the Korean drama Iris, but haven't attempted it.

i do know that coffee blended with coconut oil is really good and is also a good way to supplement healthy fats. blended bc otherwise the oil doesn't integrate with the coffee that well.

I started doing it when the Bulletproof coffee guy first came on the Rogan podcast, so pushing two years now.

First off that guy has been exposed as a fraud by Rogan and others with regards to his talks on high mycotoxins levels in coffee and his magical coffee beans that are toxin free.

However he did make the Bulletproof coffee recipe popular, which originally came from Robert Wolf, the paleo guy.

It does help fill you up a little bit in the morning, is it a magical drink? Not by any means.

I wouldn’t drink it if I wasn’t as active as I am, but I stand most of the day at my workstation, lift weights four-five days a week program depending, weight vest walk four days a week (walk the dog every day it isn't raining 1.5 miles) and hill sprint one-two days a week. So I’m always ****ing hungry.

I do one small tablespoon of Kerry Gold butter, same amount of MCT oil, packet of stevia, and a tablespoon of this hippie organic sugar free chocolate powder. This is for 16oz of coffee.  I blend it all with a hand blender in a large pyrex four cup bowel. Its actually pretty delicious, but JUST the butter, MCT oil, and coffee, its kinda meh.

That's what I want to know, I guess some people will do anything to take something somewhat healthy and turn it into something unhealthy.  With that said, I don't think this is any worse than people loading up with extra sugar/cream in their coffee.

Coffee doesn't need additives, especially butter.

I certainly enjoy a bit of cream in my coffee. Sometimes a bit of sugar. I got crazy the other day and had it black with a touch of sugar.

Mix it up, guys. Hell, put some butter in it. And broccoli. Bacon grease. Why stop there? Cream cheese and peppermint oil. PUMPKIN SPICE.

The only thing remotely like this is I've used is ice cream for coffee in a pinch when I was out of half and half. It's actually pretty damn good, but that's because it's essentially cream and sugar with vanilla.

Oh yeah, I certainly didn't mean to disparage people who like sugar or cream in their coffee, I was more talking about people who go way overboard with those two additives and almost negate the coffee itself.  I didn't want to sound elitist there or anything, sorry if I came across that way.

I have never heard of butter in coffee. I read the first few posts thinking "Are they actually talking about butter in coffee? That is a thing now?". It sounds really gross.  :-X But to each their own! Cream and sugar are fine with me. Maybe some soy milk if I'm feeling feisty, but that is about it.

Oh, no. Just riffing a bit on that. I'm certainly no chain-branded-sugar-drink-coffee-mixture person myself and you certainly did not sound elitist.

Some black-or-nothing coffee drinkers can come across that way, however.

No harm, no foul

lol.  You guys still drinking butter coffee?  That's so 2014.  True paleo cavemen have moved on to bone-marrow coffee.  It's 8 oz coffee mixed with 6 oz of bone broth.  Totally paleo.  I feel like a 25,000 year old cave man right now. (BTW, I don't wear clothes, just animal skins.)

To make the bone broth, see, http://wellandgood.com/2014/11/05/why-new-yorkers-will-be-sipping-bone-broth-in-coffee-cups-this-winter/

To make coffee = coffee beans + water.

Mix.

Enjoy.

Grow.

Lose weight.

I grew 7" taller, and lost 150 lbs. in less than a week.  Your results may vary.

What do you do?
