Hiya guys,
So I picked up this Focus FK-9000 keyboard, quite an interesting board. However, it does not work - at all. The keyboard is not detected at all on bootup and the calculator just displays random rubbish. The battery and its terminals are kinda covered in corrosion, so I was wondering whether that was the issue. Does anyone know if you NEED the battery for the keyboard to work at all?
Cheers!

Just hooked my 8000 (also with a calc) and it worked without the battery, though so did the calculator oddly enough

Cheers mate, I thought it might work without it. I'd have thought the battery was for using the calculator when the PC is off, or for storing the PF keys macros, which the internet kinda suggests. Do you think the 9000 and 8000 are similar enough that it might work the same?

I pulled the battery from my 9000 due to corrosion... it worked, but the calculator is bad (shows nonsense segments-- a known problem with them), and the PF keys were only nonsense data.

Hmmm, ok then, do you think the calculator is bad because of the missing battery, or because of something else?

Well, I'd think that the calculator in both the 8000, 9000, and even 5001 would all be the same nearly, but I'm not sure. My 8000's calculator worked perfectly fine without the calculator
