Title: Newish to Mechanical Keyboards, heading deeper..
Post by: gerijamide on Thu, 26 February 2015, 12:09:17
Hey there

Always been a bit of a geek, house is a bit full of bits of computers and old/new tech

Only recently got my first mechanical keyboard though:
a Filco tenkeyless with blues. absolutely love it. even converted
my cousin over to mechs as well. been lurking on geekhack for
a while now, thought I might say hi, especially as I have a geek hack
key for an escape now!

Switched to blank keycaps to get into touch typing properly
(was fast, but not able to look away). it's now only slightly
inconvenient. then added o rings to smooth things out a bit

currently have this on my gaming pc. but now I kinda want something
for my work mac. and one to take to the office.. oh dear.
Seem to be getting rather drawn into all this :-)

Have Miami Twice on order. possibly for this board.

Just received my grab bag (to UK, took a while),
partially to add some colour, play around with DSA.
Almost a complete layout, bit thin on the correct modifiers
for the mo, which makes it a bit wonky! still, was pretty
lucky to get a matching ISO enter.

Next am planning an atomic build, got some of the parts so far
teensy 2, cherry mx clears, diodes, cables. I'm interested in playing around
with custom layouts. have a bit of a programming background and have
played around with Arduinos / Raspberry PIs.

still waiting on the plate, and have ordered the think different DSA group buy, for a set
of plain DSA letter keys (too late for granite). reckon DSA will work best for an atomic.
here's the parts so far:

Welcome to Geekhack!

It's amazing what you can find in a Crap Bag.  I looked for a complete DSA set, but was also woefully short on modifiers.  Still I had enough to make a somewhat colourful set that convinced me to go for the Granite GB, which I did.  Unfortunately that set has lost out to the Nuclear Data Green SA set (which in turn is likely to lose out to the Hack'd by Geeks set).  Sigh.

Very nice rainbow across the function keys though :)
