Been re-reading ASOIAF while phone has been broken. On 3rd book and still as awesome as ever. I've got the book 'The Road' I've always wanted to read but never got round to it. Want to at some point reason The Hunger Games as well. The Road, and many other books by McCarthy are a fantastic read. I would highly recommend reading No Country for Old Men too!
Glissbro advised me to read Enders Game as well as he said it's great. I used to love reading and since smart phones (I know it's my own fault) I've just gone to slack and browse Reddit and ****.
You watched it in the theater didn't ya?
I love to read, and could use an excuse to allow myself the time to read more.
I'm in for book club.
The first rule of GH book club is we don't talk about GH book club.

I've read yakuza moon. Not that great.
Her tattoos are cool though.

I'll read Fifty Shades of Grey, only because then I can give a good critique of it :P
If we don't do that, how about "1984" I've never read it, but I heard it is good.
Tp, get a google poll going or something of that nature once we get more suggestions in.

Ok sure.. suggest a different book then.. hhahahaha
dude that poll is weak.
1984 is over hyped. 50 shades of terrible, and i already read yakuza moon :P
i wont
i suggest The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. or Sag Harbor, another awesome book.
great book, read it multiple times.

I've been meaning to read Isaac Asimov as well.

I've fallen into the hype of 1984? How is it looking past the hype? I must be educated!

which asimov
If we do Asimov, might as well start with Foundation. I've always meant to read it.
I also suggest Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. Been meaning to read that one also.
Anything by William Gibson. Probably Neuromancer would be a great place to start.
Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash.
1984 and 1Q84 would both be good. It's somewhat helpful to have read 1984 going into 1Q84, but not absolutely necessary.
11/22/63 by Stephen King.
I'll think of more suggestions later.
he'll just suggest some ****ty SJW book ._.(https://31.media.tumblr.com/8609258ea8ae29bcbbbd10a4fe0e7c60/tumblr_n8dw5q6O1g1qzjw8go1_r1_400.gif)

I recently heard of neuromancer, would be cool to check out.
And I'm into most Stephen king stuff.
I think Foundation is one of the books I own :)

If we don't do that, how about "1984" I've never read it, but I heard it is good. It’s an okay piece of political propaganda. It’s a ****ty novel.

1984 2vote vs ender 2vote.
everything else 0 or 1

Too many options imo, probably would be better to slim it down to like 5 choices and save the rest of the suggestions for later.
So the link just goes to a google account sign in for me.
I will read whatever wins though.

yea u sign into google.. and u vote.. it's google docs.. they make u sign in so you can only cast 1 vote..
unless you're very serious about a particular book, and vote from multiple accounts..
IDK why anyone would do that.. but.. the login is meant to keep this orderly .

Just a cult leader
Recently finished "the trail" [sic] by Kafka [...] but 1984 is much much betterWhich translation of Kafka?
in the dystopic genre Brave New World makes 1984 look like Zamyatin's "We." They're all good but BNW is the pinnacle: save yourself the time and just head there straight away.
If you want the literary equivalent of a train wreck : i mean something you seriously can't put down because the author is blowing every moral and ethical buffer in your ****ing brain then read "Juliette" or "Justine" by the Marquis de Sade. seriously. there is really nothing else like him in any bookstore. and don't you dare say "Well, what about 'Candide?'" Why? Because compared to MdS, Voltaire isn't Disney; he's even more innocent and naive than that. In comparison, MdS makes Voltaire sound like Yo Gabba Gabba.
Time to order a copy of 1984!
And lets try to slim down the list next time. A bit too many options.
I'm about 50 pages in, anyone else start yet?

Suppose it's not bad for just lying down and gazing at things as well. I could imagine just smoking a blunt and listening to an audio book under the stars.
When did you not notice?I'm going to get the audio book because I'm that lazy. :p

I started 4 minutes ago..
I think it'd be good to take some notes as ya'll read..
Cuz then we could have solid points to talk about..
Things that were intriguing.

Hahahah yea.. that name jumped out at me too..
winston.. hahaha
I've only known 1 winston in my life, this azn guy in college who spent nearly 2 years attempting to court this female living upstairs from me..
And funny There was also that "winston" character from sleeping dogs.. so I keep hearing the name spoken in an asian accent as I read the book..
