Came across my facebook today, pretty cool!

So this is why they need dem' 8GB vram cards..
-
Yeah for those 1.5 billion pixle images of tiny portions of space
-
Wonder how long it takes them to process something like that and what sort of computing power they utilize.
-
images of tiny portions of space
"tiny" being the operative word
-
najs

This is a wonderful image. The most magnificent part for me is when you zoom enough to see that all the "noise" in the image is really a bunch of stars and galaxies!

Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.
-
I don't think even 4K does space justice. But I still wish I had a 4K monitor to watch that video on :D
-
WTB 70k x 22k monitor? :o
-
Now I feel insignificant. Thanks.

Isn't there something like 100 billion stars in our Milky Way Galaxy and and an estimated 100-200 Billion Galaxies in our observable universe? Yea, we are inconsequentially small
-
But we only have each other ... so love one another :D
-
Now I feel insignificant. Thanks.
Don't. We're the only sapient species that we know of despite the vastness of it all. That's pretty significant.

Maybe not so significant, considering how vastness of it all ;)

Certainly significant to us tho, at least

With the whole universe of possibilities out there, you end up quoting yourself :p

That's amazing! I love space and NASA.
