Considering buying a 22key, just wondering what other peoples experiences with them have been

It's not bad, it works.
It's a cheap, affordable numberpad that sends proper codes.
It's got the 00 which is useful for accounting.
The lights aren't great, the caps and printing aren't great either.
Kailhs don't feel the same as their mx cherry counterparts - at least the reds don't.
Other numberpads are higher quality and better looking for sure but it is what it is.

Good.

I bought one from Massdrop a few months ago, and they came with additional caps, which was a nice touch. But I have recently put the caps back on as they look pretty good. The backlighting is nice, and the two USB hubs are really really useful. Kailh switches are very good, they don't deserve the bad rep they have from their first impression. I got mine with Browns as I am a tactile fan, and they feel really nice. CPTBadass says they Blues in the KC87 he tried are good, and their batches don't seem to be as off as they used to be.

My only complaint would be the lack of a removable cable which seems to be standard on Keycools. It's a shame, but the cable is of a decent quality anyway. Also the bottom row is two 1x buttons, one for 0 and one for 00, which can be a problem if you want to replace the caps with a non-keycool set.

Overall, decent quality numpad, and Kailhs aren't bad.
