And you thought GTA V's 64GB was gonna make your SSD cry. Wow. I suppose with games growing ever more expansive, and solid media going the way of newspapers and cable tv this was to be expected. But it seems like devs are really pushing size increase a few years too early. They will soon start to eclipse hardware pricepoints which will be bad business for both sides.

How do they expect people to download that? Sure, internet access and speed has increased nationwide at a tremendous rate but I wouldn't buy that game just based on the amount of time it would take to download. My download speed isn't that great.
Imagine the updates!

That's above the data cap in AU and some other countries, so I fail to see how this is in any way a good business plan.
-
Tp4's 1TB ssd was not an impulse buy.. He knew this all along.. (http://textemoticons.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/th_0pride.gif)
Never was there a month of regret, NEVER !!
-
I didn't think of that. It's easy to forget that a number of service providers have data caps when you don't yourself.
I'm wondering to what degree this will effect sales and the community as a whole.

I also have a feeling star citizen will be Floppish..
Because the Market is thoroughly enamored with Moba...
Star Citizen and ANY type of game that produces a LOWER gameplay rewards rate will not have staying power, even if they're fundamentally GOOD GAMES, by older standards..
They simply do not captivate the audience at a skill level LOW ENOUGH, and a rewards rate HIGH enough..
People want more Affirmation of success faster and with LESS input on TIME..
I hope star-citizen knows this, and have some element that gives people something to chew on through the monotony of space flight..

I thought that's why their target audience were consumers of Doritos, Taco Bell, and Mountain Dew. Plenty to chew on.

SC cost over $70 million to make, and historically speaking games with a $50 million+ budget have all gone on to be very successful. Mostly.
On a side-note: I never realized that Destiny cost half a billion to make. Where did they spend all that money? Certainly not on writers.

And wasn't most of that budget (if not all) raised by crowd funding ?

Yep.

When I was downloading HW2 on steam, it was hitting 10MBps, so at that rate... 2.8hrs for me?
...but then I only have 30 gigs free on my HDD and I don't think I have another power feed to add another HDD... T_T

I don't think its a big deal. The people invested in this game, are IN-****ING-VESTED sparing 100gb is no issue.
-
My fear is that the game will be riddled with microtransactions and just become whale-centric making it unfun for anyone not ready to drop $10k on ships and weapons.

But if that's what its community wants... I don't see a problem with that... and from what I've seen of what they have put out there is a game you can play there without having to spend thousands..

It's still never fun to have someone completely eclipse all your progress and time spent by just spending money on micro transactions.
After spending a lot of time playing BF3 to unlock everything they come in and add DLC weapons (the best sniper in the game is dlc and is better in every respect to the best non-dlc sniper). After that they come out with the shortcut kits that gave ALL unlocks to people, making my two hundred hours of unlocks the equivalent of a $5 purchase. (To be fair I didn't spend all that time unlocking stuff)
