Title: Ducky Shine 3, some some keys' LED will not turn off?
Post by: timnswede on Thu, 12 March 2015, 16:34:47
Hi guys, I've been having some troubles with my Ducky Shine 3, the D key's LED has died, so I wanted to turn off all the LEDs so it wouldn't annoy too much, but I ran into another problem. A, G, J, L, ", the calculator shorcut, the up arrow, numpad 5, and numpad enter's LEDs will not turn off. I've reset the keyboard, looked at drivers, tried a different cable, tried customizing the LEDs and turning those ones off, but nothing works. Any ideas? Couldn't find anything about it online.

I have this same problem with my MX RED Green Leds.

Here is what happened. A "key" is referring to the LED on the key.

1. Z  key started to die. (3 months in)
2. With leds off, 2,4,6,8,0,+ like every thing on that row was lit up even when my leds were off. (same thing as you)
3. Z key died, F7 & F10 keys also die.
4. Got Z key, F7, F10 replaced.
5. Now with leds off, the 2nd row q,e,t,u,o,[ etc are lit on when my leds are off. (same thing as you)
6. S key dies, 2 key dies, K key dies, + key dies, Home key on top right dies, Z key dying again. 4 key dies...  (8 months old - right now)

Not sure if I got a defective one, but I pre-ordered my keyboard when they were out of stock and somehow they were able to ship me one  next day even though the shipment hadn't come in.

Probably I am going to have to replace my LEDs again, going to do it myself, it isn't worth spending $11 to fix it and have more leds die again.

I have three Ducky Shine - two Shine 1 and one Shine 3.

All LEDs are fine.  One of the Shine 1 had a couple of MX blue switches that did not click much, but totally mashing them has more or less solved that.

There are not that many reports of problems with Ducky Shine LEDs (at least not reported here).  Given how delicate the electronics can be, and how many small parts there are, I suppose it is inevitable that the occasional defective keyboard arises.
