Title: [IC] KMAC compatible Winkeyless A87U pcb.
Post by: zennasyndroxx on Mon, 16 March 2015, 04:42:40
Hi there guys,

This is an interest check for KMAC compatible Winkeyless A87U pcb.

I'm still in contact with the guys over at Winkeyless and they've mentioned that the MOQ is 20. ideally, we want it black since the original KMAC pcb is black.

So, why you would want to be interested?

-Updates-

The price per PCB is $44, assuming we've reached the MOQ and that's with controller soldered. With that said, I'm assuming that the prices mentioned is for a standard green PCB. Will update the price once more if I've got the price if we want to use a black PCB instead.

Depending on price I'd be interested. After seeing that full LED swag on LastPilot's LZ-S, I think I need it too.

Assuming that you're going to just get one a87u pcb but wi KMAC pcb dimensions, it's gonna cost you the price of a87u + extra $20 to $30 so it would be around $70.

Assuming that we can meet the moq and maybe more, we can bring the price down. And I'm going to get just one b87 board to try out something with kmac2. See if we can teach old dog new tricks.

Anyways, I'm going to ask them tomorrow for more information about pricing, assuming that we can reach the moq.

You guys okay with black pcb?

Updated the thread for more info about pricing per pcb and stuffs like that

I don't have OTD board :( donate one.

well, if this groupbuy goes well, we can consider running a OTD A87 buy. Have to use A87 i guess. :/

I'd be interested in an OTD compatible PCB as well!

If you are going to do the KMAC compatible one, would it be possible to also get the KMAC case as well?

Hopefully, we can proceed to OTD compatible PCB after this groupbuy.

I'm not sure whether we can still get the KMAC case now though :( Sorry about that.

put me down for a set. for sure!

if this does go through would there be an option to get it unassembled with a plate?

would be nice to just get a kit with all the unassembled parts to decrease prod/ship time.

Ahh thats cool no probs. I'll wait for the OTD compatible one then, mine in particular is the 456GT

At the moment, I'm thinking of making stainless steel plates because I'll be using linear switches. or we can just use back our old plates.

welp, there's bad news regarding OTD compatible ones :(

i would need a plate with the pcb. all my plates are used up. that would be the only required option.

Now, now. I am looking for a full led-compatible PCB with leds above the switch. However, I want a winkey one, not a winkeyless one.  :(

Winkeyless is like the brand of the PCB. if you desire, you can have iso layout too :)

Ok, if has leds above switches like I think, I'm interested. However, I don't see it in their shop site. This is an Interest Check, even if it passes it will be a long time before I get my hands on one. That's the problem right now. Gon has the leds under the switch, which probably won't work with my keycaps. Grrrrrr.

The leds are above the switches, directly on top of the led holes on the switch. And yes, this is an interest check. there isn't any listed down on their site because this is a special request for them to redraw the PCB dimensions according to the kmac2, but retaining the whole circuitry of the a87u PCB.

This PCB would be different from GON because you wouldn't have to file your plate if you would like to use back your old red kmac plate. GON's kmac pcb would work well with the diffuser plate that GON is also selling if you do not want to go through the hassle of filing down the plate.

So with this kmac a87u pcb, you do not need to file anything on your plate as the spacebar stabilizer is the same position as the kmac ones.

I'm still new to the forum and group buys in general. While a PCB like this looks like it will fit exactly what I want, I think the IC will have a hard time turning into a GB. Kmacs aren't being made anymore so the amount of people that could use such a PCB isn't growing any larger. Looking at a lot of the other IC threads, there are like 11 pages of responses or more, I'm sure those will go through (and even then will take a while to ship).  :( I posted on their site and I think they just want me to work within the group buy.

BTW, your avatar is... exciting.   ;D

yeah, not everyone owns a kmac :( you mean you've posted on winkeyless.kr? and they get back to you saying to join this groupbuy?

thanks for your compliments too :D

I am currently designing a case as a personal project and I am quite interested.

I wonder what the price would be with Controller, diodes and resistors soldered (I do not have experience in soldering something smaller than LEDs).

I'm buying the Gon PCB for now. I don't want to delay the keyboard any longer, this is going to take a long time as is. But if the IC turns into the GB, I'll buy one anyways. So put me up as a "yes".

I posted on their English site, and they said they don't have any products that fit a Kmac (which I guess implies I should work with the groupbuy). Can't just go to the website and buy one.

so far, including you guys, it would be still, about 10 pcbs. we need another 10 more. this would be hard as not everyone owns a kmac, and people who currently owns a kmac might not need this pcb.

I am currently designing a case as a personal project and I am quite interested.

the price of the pcb with the controller soldered would be the price according to OP. if you want the diodes and resistors soldered i can solder them for you.

Yes, they currently do not have any products that fits a KMAC. Just to clarify, we're custom ordering a batch of pcbs that would fit the KMAC based on the A87U firmware. the MOQ needed for this is 20. and we're almost halfway there.

How long do we typically have to meet the MOQ before a company just says 'screw it' and doesn't make the items?
