Post by: tp4tissue on Thu, 19 March 2015, 13:23:24
OK..

New tough decision..

Do I need  Fujipoly... a $25 question..(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/th_115_.gif)

OLD_____________________________

Ok.. shopping for 16gb sets of memory for my x220.. which I will be reliant on for 3 months.. (i only have 2x4gb right now)

1.35 volt   low voltage ram gives around 1-2% increased battery life..

1.50 volt   1866mhz ram gives around 2-5% boost in performance, up to 20-30% boost in igpu-performance..

So... do I want the performance, or the battery life.. Hrrrmmm...

Choose the one that has the best look/logo and most back lighting.

And make sure it's marketed for gamers.

You can always find a place to plug in. I doubt you can find somewhere to boost your CPU performance. :P

How long is a 2% increase in battery life on that machine anyway? On something with 5hr battery life, it's 6 minutes.

My pick would be the performance in the majority of use cases.

17 hours if I plug in both batteries simultaneously.. so +20 minutes.. (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/70bff581.gif)

sandy bridge uses a stupid amount of power compared to the new stuff..

But the New x250 doesn't have dual channel Ram,  LIKE WTF... WTFFFFFF

^^  I refuse to buy x250 for that reason

But.. alas.. thx 18-link,  you've reminded me how trivial the powersaving is..  the percentages looked much bigger than the 20 minutes..

I got the 1866
