I told the wife I was thinking of growing a full beard.  I got "the look".  I keep a goatee because I look like a 12 year old clean shaven.

I think my beard looked good at my friend's wedding last summer. My gf hated it and I ended trimming it right down just before christmas because I couldn't stand the criticism.

Now I'm growing it again as IDGAF. I shall have a beard for summer. Haven't had a wet shave in almost 2 years now  :thumb:

Haven't had a shave since 2009. Not really a beard, I trim every week or so... Unless i get too lazy :)
And yeah, after a shave you do feel kinda naked.

If this is going to be a 'therapy' thread shouldn't it capture the same feels as the bro and clack therapy threads? I.e. A place for those without beards (like me) to complain about not having one???

I'll go first.
I can't grow a beard, my facial hair dosn't grown very evenly and when I gets to about half an inch becomes hella itchy.

Does therapy include if your beard grows too quickly and you have to keep trimming it?

I can't grow a beard, my facial hair doesn't grown very evenly and when I gets to about half an inch becomes hella itchy.

It would take me over a month to grow half an inch. In fact in a month I barely get about a quarter inch. After only 2 weeks the itchiness becomes unbearable. Only positive side for me is people generally seem to take me more seriously clean shaven.

Everyone has that. Once you pass that stage and keep going it will disappear. Give it a month or so.
Combing, special oil or just shampooing help a lot.

Yeah, idk it just kinda looks a mess and seems like a lot of trouble... I think my biggest problem with growing my facial hair though is managing the tache' ...it just feels all kinds of wrong haha

I used Movember a few years ago to grow it out but it took me almost two years on my own to learn how to trim and treat it properly.
As my beard has very compact curls I look like a hobo if I don't at least trim the rogue hairs from time to time but there is a lot you can get away with if you just make sure you trim the edges. ;P

I've never been able to really grow a healthy thick beard.

I actually had one last week that I had been working on for about a month. The issue I run into is that I can never grow the connecters from the upper lip to the lower chin. I end up just looking like a sex offender so I shaved it all off.

I enjoyed my beard and I'll probably grow another one soon.  :p

Why'd you shave?

With summer coming up, it's nice to start fresh so I don't get even sweatier, plus maintaining a big beard can be a lot of work to do properly.  Also it's nice to just change things up every once in awhile.  I never keep it shaved for more than a day though, so this cycle will just repeat in a few months.  :)

London, 3 years ago :( Slowly shaving off my beard for my wedding. I had to take it slow.

I actually found trimming it ever so slightly once ever few weeks encouraged it to stop being lazy and keep growing. It does get "stuck" a lot.

Your curly beard is epic as hell.

Time to jump in on this thread.

The Girl will be visiting soon, so I'm trying to find the exact right moment to trim my beard.  This is essential for a few reasons.  The obvious one is that I have super fine hair, so my beard is super soft like a fluffy face bunny.  When I trim, I have about a day or two of slightly pokey hairs.  So I don't want to trim right before she gets here.  Then there is the issue of appearance.  I have a curly beard with some blond patches (one on my left cheek, one on my left jawline, and my jazz tuft - right below the lip).  This causes issues.  Especially if I trim it too short.  And I always trim it short.  It goes like this.

So there is my venting about facial hair.  I require beard therapy.  I presume this involves rubbing my beard with oil and a light massage.  I will just lay here and accept that, thanks.

I found two grey hairs in my beard today.  No grey in the hair, just the beard.  Still not yet 30. I blame grad school and my job.

I can't wait to have grey in my beard. Have them coming through on my head, but its not the same.

I had a couple grey hairs at 22.  My friends were so kind as to pluck them from my face without my consent.  :|

No beard or anything here (grill), but I'm 22 and have a TON of gray hair on my head. The fact that I'm brunette doesn't help either, people love to point the grays out to me...YEAH I KNOW THEY'RE THERE.  :-[

Grey hairs in the beard is great.  Patches or a couple, not so much.  It's like just make up your mind already.

I've been out for two years, so I don't think we can be grad school buddies.  I can still commiserate with you about the shared misery of the experience though.  I have enough bitterness stored up from grad school to fuel the hate of several wars.

Some of the ones I get almost fall out, others are grounded.  Plucking beard hair hurts though.  You should have found some way to retaliate...like waxing their arms or legs if they're a dude.

Going grey before 30 is the new "in thing."

I automatically trust someone with grey hair much more. Perhaps we should request that GB leaders state if they are grey.
