This keyboard is incredible! Having a not too bad of a time switching to the blank keycaps. It's going better than expected but it's still going to be a little bit. I feel as if my keyboard addiction has started haha. I think I may get a cherry red keyboard for gaming because I do feel a difference in the amount of time it takes to actually press a key. Typing on it is so incredible though. I just wish I would have gotten one sooner. Can anyone suggest a wrist wrest for it?

Gratz on the board, I had a chance to try out a Type-S recently as well and I'm contemplating on buying one (it feels much better than the standard HHKB Pro 2).

Is it that big of a difference? I was still tempted to pick up a black HHKB because even though I like the white a lot more than I expected to I think I would enjoy the black more. I've considered buying the black and switching the internals to make is a Black Type-S

The difference is not huge, but it's there - and honestly the only reason I'm thinking about buying a Type-S is because I need a new keyboard for work.
EDIT: It might have to do with the fact that I have modded my standard HHKB Pro 2 with O-rings that affect travel distance, but I seemed to notice a smoother 'bump' on the type-s in comparison to my board.

This is encouraging. I was thinking about picking up a type-s but was wobbling a bit on whether to spend so much on a board, especially when i haven't tried topre before. I think i'm just going to go for it.

I've been dealing with this issue for a while. I use my HHKB at work and the upstroke clack is noticeable enough to make me want to get the type-S. I am hesitant about wasting another $300 on another keyboard so I'm thinking about selling my white HHKB to get back some money. I tried all the o-ring, dental bands, and landing pads. I had trouble with the landing pads due to the ironing part and the others caused the distance to decrease resulting in either damaged domes or less feel.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter as well.

Damn, I have a pro 2 but I feel like the type S poison inside me is spreading

I don't get the Type S hype. I love the sound of my HHKB.
-
It's good for use in public places where the surprisingly loud regular HHKB would be a source of irritation to others.

Or if you have to share desk space with a co-worker. When I had the standard HHKB, I was shocked by how loud it was. Dental banding helped, but I prefer the feel of the Type-S. With proxies, you can pick up the Type-S directly from Japan for the same or less money than what the regular model would be.

If you don't type like a madman it's not too loud. But I have my own office anyway.

for some reason, my regular HHKB sometimes sounds loud in one room and quieter in another. Maybe it's due to acoustics or something but it's really weird. I find that some people do get irritated by the upstroke clack, which is unfortunate for my wallet cuz NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PURCHASE A TYPE-S. :(

You could just dental band it.

tried all the mods. None of the results were to my liking. Dental bands, o-rings, ironed landing pads, etc...I myself don't mind the clacking now, but as I mentioned, it's definitely noticeable.

Prefer the non type-S, ended up selling mine and going back to the standard. Prefer both the noise and feel of the standard. If you fancy trying one though its hard to let that itch go away :D

Is there a thread or post somewhere with good instructions on doing the proxy thing?
