whaaaaat? Another groupbuy for keycap set?
Yes indeed.
Instead of going to GMK, we'll go to BSP for blank sets cause Otaku FTW.
I'm currently thinking of a few sets:
Black
Classic beige
and maybe other colorway, provided that BSP have the colors available and it's not expensive to produce.
Update:
You can vote here now - dro.ps/v/mln94YT (http://dro.ps/v/mln94YT)
Things you need to know about this set:
We can only get a set with ONLY stepped caps lock, 1.5u modifiers (winkeyless boards) and also, NO spacebar.
If you would like to use this set with other standard layout boards, we would have to purchase a GMK adapter set separately. This means, PBT from BSP + a few top of the line ABS caps from GMK which consists of
-Spacebar (7u or 6.25u)
-Standard caps lock (for those who are using center stemmed caps lock)
-1.25u modifiers
The price for BSP ONLY is going to be around $45 per set, with an MOQ of 100. If we can reach an at least 300 and beyond, we can get them cheaper.
Also, few details about BSP sets,
-No scooped F and J, only nipples.
-Thick PBT. Cherry profile.
-To some of you who's concerned about warped right shift, apparently the blank ones are okay. Only BSP dyesubbed ones are crooked, even Imsto's dyesub on BSP is alright.
-
: /
Interested, sorta...
BSP has no love for the unwashed winkey crew.
-
blank b lue PLEASE
-
Do they still have crooked stems?
-
No to the beige, because classic beige will be running soon. I want maybe a light pink or light blue

I have twice as many key sets coming as I have keyboard but I dont think I could resist picking up a blank black set. As long as it's properly black and not dark grey/graphite/smoke/whatever.

originative is very shady, and should be very cautious when buying from them
-
As long as all the keys needed for this (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/16dc5391c1866222935e6948daa4a3e2) are included, I'm definitely interested in a black set.

Yea I heard people had issues with them in the past, ordered from them after their site came back up and everything went fine though.

What did you order from him?
-
Set of the classic beige with red print and a akatsuki cap. I don't know if I would do a group but through them as IIRC that was the issue before.
-
Not to hijack the OP, and sorry if I am, but I emailed BSP and he said that the minimum order requirement is 100 and that is at 45$ per set, which isn't too bad. He said that standard beige and gray colors, but they can make them in any colors we want. I am inquiring about a price change depending on the color right now.

Please just do one in blue I beg
didn't ivan already do black

Which blue? Like the one you have? I really like that set, and would be on board with that color, or even a pink color would be nice.

Pink's cool too I'd still buy it but any light blue is fine. Don't really want a navy or deeper blue cuz leopold offers those.

If you do blank bsp set... Please include a matching GMK right shift, bsp one is just horrible

What's wrong with BSP's stuff I never owned any of their sets but I really really been wanting a new blank PBT set in some non-boring colours.

From reading other threads, they have crappy QC, crooked stems, and their right shift is flimsy, too thin, and too short by a couple MM. Maybe IMSTO instead of BSP?

I already have imsto ;( just wanted to feel OG cuz of all the GMK hype lately. Oh well

If I'm correct Imsto only does the dye subbing step the caps used in Imsto GBs are made by BSP.
Edit: I could be wrong, looks like I wasn't

Their r1 keycaps have crooked stems, but still usable. Their right shift is... SUPER wrapped up

The PBT BSP dyesub is quite wrapped differently between one to another. However, I have one BSP blank set. The right shift is complete flat. I have another BSP dyesub from IMSO, it is also very flat.
Based on these 3 examples, I believe the dye-sub process is the cause of the key wrapping due to heat treating. So it is unlikely the BSP blank set will have a wrapped shift.

BSP PBT + imsto dyesub (flat)

Sorry, it seems like I missed it, but is the blank BSP set completely fine?

In the past most IMSTO caps were made by Vortex/KBC. Only recently have they dye-subbed BSP caps.

Sorry, it seems like I missed it, but is the blank BSP set completely fine?
I would not say it is completely fine. It is acceptable and usable in term of typing and feeling of high quality PBT plastic. If BSP also provides the spacebar, I would say this group buy is a must-buy.

Okay, for BSP, there is a color setup fee depending on what color it is, and I am asking him what the rate is, or if it changes color to color, if there is a fee for said color.

Typically when someone starts an IC thread that OP does the leg work, you might want to at least PM the OP instead of just taking over.
Also you clearly aren't familiar at all with anything about BSP caps or PBT caps in general based on your questions so far in this thread, so maybe read up on some of the pertinent information.

It's alright, we're all cool here. He Pmed me about it and I'm alright. At least someone to fill in the void when I'm not around.
And yes, blank sets are going to be $45 which consists of:
-only stepped caps lock
-only 1.5u control and alt
-no spacebar
So, how do we fix the issue of having no spacebar and 1.25u?
we go to GMK and make a small kit that at least will ensure that your kit is usable across winkey and winkeyless boards
What about short shift then?
I've yet to receive a reply from BSP regarding this and I assume they wouldn't have it since I've never seen a 1.75u shift from them before. Maybe I can add this to the GMK adapter pack
Feel free to discuss it here.
Still need to decide on the colors though. Would it be okay if we replicate pretty it's successful colorways like raindrop, red alert and so on?

Triumph Adler had the short right shift. Sounds like a hassle so I'm not 100 percent in anymore. I'd still like to see an all blue set but I'm not a fan of mixing materials. We'll see ^_^

Blue set sounds great for me :thumb:. A bit short right shift and other small issues should not be any big problem. I like the surface of BSP. It is smooth, dry and closer to Topre PBT keycap. Leopold PBT keycap is also smooth but in a different way.
@all:
you can see and judge on your own but I don't think the blank set will have the wrapped right shift.

There is a flat rate for any custom color, unless it is a really custom color, like gold.
-
Apparently, there's a Massdrop poll (https://www.massdrop.com/vote/bsp-pbt-blanks) for BSP blanks. Not sure whether related...

Yep, it's related. Updated the original post to reflect upon the updates I've received.

My bad. Just to clarify:
The MOQ is 100 and with that MOQ it's $45 a set.
If we can reach at least 300 sets and more, we can get it cheaper.

It's actually every 200 there is a price drop up to 500!sets, so the price changes at 200&400

If you need to go GMK for winkey support, why not just go GMK for all of it?

If we could get lime green, or bright orange, or purple... I would be down. But **** beige and black. Got those covered with the Chinese and don't need to patch in other sourced keys on those (unless ISO enter).

full colored or something like lime green mods with white alpha etc?

I would prefer just solid colors, and buy multiple sets to mix match it my own way.

So I see some IMSTO sets with winkey support...
Who are they using for such sets? (I thought they used BSP for blanks and then dyed them, but BSP has no winkey???)
BSP seems...ehhh...I've seen a set of BSP on an otd board (a 356cl?) and the shifts being too small makes the set look like crap.
Iono, If I'm the only one with this opinion, I'll shut up.
-
I feel like there should be a poll on which colors, and also I saw you made a poll on MD as well, but I don't think we should now go to MD for everything, or else manufactures might phase us out and just use MD.

I'll try and setup a form since I have no idea how to setup a poll here in GH. I've used MD because it's an easier platform to use as well.
As for other colors, we might need to be more careful since we need to get the (for example) blue that both BSP and GMK can come very very close to, if we were to make a GMK adapter set for those winkey boards.

IF any updates on colorway ?
