Post by: Nikelu on Mon, 30 March 2015, 18:54:42
Which orings are better? How easy it is to put shelf cloth or how it is called? How and what materials do I need to lube my keyboard and what do I get from that? Landing pads arent available in Greece anyway,so that must be pretty much it

I hate O-rings.  Might as well get rubber domes.

Shelf liner is damn easy to put it. Some like the checkered, I prefer the more solid.

For lubing, I recommend Krytox.

Just this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120pcs-Keycap-Rubber-O-Ring-Switch-Dampeners-RED-For-CHERRY-MX-Free-Shipping-/261268631414

I suggest not stuffing your keyboard with stuff, I haven't noticed any improvements in my stuffing experiments, it just makes it harder to re-open the keyboard

Hm looks like I can find this stuff easily,DUPONT makes these so I guess they are everywhere in the correct shops. But what's the process of lubing. Just take a paintbrush and put the krytox where exactly ?[(serious answers only)] I never seem to find a decent video on youtube of someone performing the mod.

What is the thickness of these? I  will try to find similar ones because only one shop brings those to Greece.

1.5mm it says, they are the thinnest and softest o-rings I've seen

They lube the switches after removing/desoldering each one (or before soldering them on, for DIY keyboards)

It's really risky and unnecessary for blues

I suggested these o-rings, as I use them on MX Green's and enjoy them a lot, they are light enough to not mess with the click action

Hey KHAANNN all o-rings available for me are 1,6mm. But from the 3 options the 2 say smth like hardness(not sure if accurate translation from german to english) 40A and the other one says 50A. Which should I choose?

it should be 50a>40a in hardness, I would go with 40a, the WASD ones are also 40a as far as I know

you can also buy small amounts of both, test them, and use the ones you like

imsto is offering silica balls that you put into the switch, im in the process of remodding a pair of blues with  these balls and also put 85 g springs into them.

Edit: You  can also go buy some lube in your hardware store.

I also ordered some imsto balls, but they just shipped, the delays are high, how do you like them?

I'm guessing blues+85g is pretty much = greens

I don't think he's going to open up his keyboard tho, I think he's looking for external mods instead, as I've read his previous threads

Ordered the 40A 1,6mm :D Thanks for the advise. Will see if these suit me,but would be another experience for sure. Will see about modding later, now I can't afford tools and internal modding.

I would not recommend that.  Most the lubes will cause issues or are dramatically inferior to Krytox.

Also keep in mind that lubing Blues runs the risk of making them stop clicking.
