Hello, I've been lurking as a guest for a little now and finally stopped being lazy and made an account. Anyways I really want to start making boards and knew this would be a good way to start on that journey.

Welcome to GeekHack!
Do you have any mechanical keyboards or are you looking to make one as your first?

Welcome to Geekhack!
Making keyboards to what extent? Designing and building your own from scratch, or putting together a kit?
Either way, have a look at this question (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=40501.0#post_GGGG) and follow the link for some ideas on where to get started.

Thank you. I Guess I should have been more specific, I want to start with a kit and maybe one day do something custom.

I do have boards already and hope to get plenty more in the future. :))

Fair enough - I had to ask, some people arrive here with the grandest of ideas (and usually with a lot of technical resources and expertise to back them) ;)
In that case the post I linked is still relevant, but the switches will probably cost you a bit more, and most of the rest you should be able to get in a kit. Often the electronics (diodes etc.) are already soldered onto the PCB, or that is available as an option.

Hello and welcome to GH! I'm in the same boat about building my first custom board. If you find something you are interested in I'd like to know. Good luck!
