Title: Controller Adapters -- BlissBox
Post by: SeeThruHead on Sat, 04 April 2015, 00:25:54
So I'm an avid retro gamer and emulation junkie. I've always had issues trying to use authentic controllers to play games on pc/linux.

I stumbled across this kickstarter a while back that basically will solve all my problems.

It uses hdmi connectors and custom dongles (that you can make yourself if you like) and interfaces with the computer via HID.
Supports hot swapping and the like.

I backed them for the pcb only and plan to build it into a retropie box.

Maybe some of you retro gamers would like one as well?

I remember hearing about this like 2 years ago. I still don't think it will ever see the light of day, unfortunately.

I think it's quite limited use.. because people don't really play split screen anymore..

They're all @ home over the net..

I still play most of my games with friends in front of the tv.

We like to play old classics via emulators, having the real controller is the best part. Unfortunately it's next to impossible to get all the adapters working, so we end up just using the same controller for every system. Which sucks. But this device would fix that completely.

I know one solution: become a game collector ;)

That's on the road map. But there's something about one tiny machine to run all of your systems that is very appealing to me.

I'm planning to create a custom case with 4 hdmi controller inputs that get fed to the bliss box pcb, that then connect to an RPI2. Won't happen unless they make their kickstarter though. :(
