When I use Tapatalk for Android to view this forum, I tap the Unread tab and it shows a message that there's nothing there. Anyone else have this issue?
-
Nope
Are you on 5.1?
Also get an iPhone.

Weird. So I tried signing out and back in, no change. Then I went into settings, enabled notifications, then re-disabled them. Now it works fine. Hmm.
-
The latest version I get dozens of post notifications every day, but it consistently only shows 10 unread posts in the icon badge.
-
I have the same problem in the unread posts and the chronicle section. I'll try what you did there.
-
Didn't change anything on mine.

Did you log out as well?

My gifs are broken in new version. Anyone else?

Na I didn't but I'll try.

Sometimes. There is a setting to load images or not on slow connections. I enabled it and things seem to work better. Although I'm by no means on a slow connection.

I log out but it didn't change anything apparently.

Hmm. Maybe try clearing the app cache?
-
I cleared my cache...freed 2.4GB on iPhone. Wow. Wish there was a way to limit its size!

I believe stuff stored in the cache is treated like a recycle bin...if other things need more space it's the first to go. So you're not really losing that space.

It was not the car on my Nexus 5. I had 4Go cached stuff and I had to remove because I couldn't install more apps.

Why do people use this app again? Last time I looked it was over £2 and I only ever hear people complain about it... I use Safari on my phone and while its not great, most of those problems are down to GH rather than the browser... and it's free to use lol

There are plenty of benefits. It works for all forums, not just GeekHack. It provides optional notifications. It presents the forum content in a mobile-optimized view. No need to pinch zoom anything or trying to tap on tiny text links. The trade-off for that optimization is you're working with a subset of features. For example, polls don't appear on Tapatalk. Posts per page is fewer than the forum default. Post signatures are not displayed. That kind of stuff. And who can complain about 2 bucks?

Fair enough, and yeah £2 is more than $2 haha but still any price over 99p is pretty much a 'premium' app on the app store these days and for that you kinda expect a lot (rightly or wrongly)...
but yeah as a big forum user, even on mobile, it just never appealed...
-
I've never had to pay it. It was free when I downloaded it.
-
Maybe it changed? Idk it was when I was pretty new to GH that I first looked at what it was on the App Store and I remember thinking it was a little pricey for something to just browse forums on...
-
I used to browse GH on my browser as well but there was a banner saying I could use TapTalk and once I decided to give it a try. It was before the new version came out.
