Title: Using an S-Video cable on vintage Apple mechs
Post by: bcredbottle on Fri, 10 April 2015, 17:16:06
Hi, I just got an AEK II, and Apple adjustable, and an M0116. I have a Griffin iMate (ADB to USB converter) but I don't have an ADB cable. Do you know if you can use an S-Video cable as an ADB cable? They look like they fit each other but is there any reason I shouldn't?

For reference here's an ADB cable

and an S video cable

I haven't tried, but I have heard others say they are the same and you can use an s-video cable.

Yes.

I have done it many times, no prob.

And, S-video cables are probably better quality than keyboard cables anyway, although you may not find a matching color.

Yup, just hooked the S-video cable up to my Apple Adjustable and Griffin iMate and it works perfectly. Thanks!
