Title: Using the ErgoDox on PS3?
Post by: phx on Sat, 11 April 2015, 09:15:13
There is this rhythm game on the PS3 I would love to play using the keyboard instead of controller. So I mapped some keys to my ergodox and plugged it in, somehow only the right side works, I tried resetting and replugging the cables but nothing worked. Also the buttons don't work in games either (keyboard press > circle/square/etc)

has anyone tried and got an ergodox to work on the PS3? if so can you please tell me how? Thanks!

Cherry MX is not good for rhythm or fighting games.

The reason is.. those are the 2 type of games that Actually depend on key input accuracy. something Computer keyboard switches in general are NOT DESIGNED to handle.

You're better off using a joystick with sanwa buttons..  sanwa buttons activate at 0.8mm vs 2mm on cherry.

This puts  you much closer to the rhythm / input frame.

From what I understand, using a KB/M with the current and last gen consoles required an additional device like a Xim 4 or similar to trick the console into thinking the inputs are coming from a controller.  I have contemplated buying a Xim 4 but have never taken the dive.
