Do you think I would like MX clears or is just a fad/FOTM sort of thing?
What about grays vs clear?

I really don't think it's a fad, i honestly think they're popular for a reason, kinda like topre. Stock clears kinda suck to me (too mushy and heavy) and ergo clears are like perfect for me

I think there is a fad right now for clears, but I really do believe for me that its the tactile feel that seperates mechanical keyboards from plunger keys and greys and clears embody that most.
Greys and clears use the same stem. The only diffenreces are the weight of the spring which is a lot harder in grey, and the color of paint used. I actually made ergo greys for my poker2 and they feel glorious. Greys are a lot easier to get than clears, so with the intent of modding them that was the deciding factor for me.
Greys and clears are a little too hard for me natively I think, but browns were a little too soft.

Hmm this makes me wanna use MX Grey instead of Clears for Orion V2 and mod it with 62g springs

Had stock clears for a couple years before going to tactile Grey with 85g Springs as I have strong fingers I guess and wanted something a tad heavier. Most people decide to put a softer spring in though. Iirc 62 and 68 are apparently God tier. I say go for it.

Stock clears are a little heavier for continuous typing; however, they feel very nice, I already have softer springs to try them. I do not think is a fad.
The typing experience in an MX keyboard does not depend only on the switch, also the key caps, plate - if any - and case affect it. The keycaps may add a low or high pitch and their texture, weight and profile affect the tactility and feel on your finger tips. The plate can make the typing feel to be more solid. Finally, the case is like a baffle, it may resonate, or silence the sound of the typing; for example, a flat TEX case sounds damped when compare with an original Poker ABS case, that resonates due to the empty space under the PCB.

You bring up really good points,I find myself learning a great deal on this forum. Ill definitely agree that the case affects the way my hand sits on my KB after I went to a TeX from stock, mainly because its so much lower, but how does that affect the tactile feel of the keys?

The case affects mainly the overall keyboard profile, its weight and sound; in my opinion.

Clears are definitely my favorite MX switch, and have been for several years now.

Clears are probably my favourite Cherry switches. The tactility still isn't very clean, but it's a lot more pronounced than on other Cherry switches. The weighting is also a lot better.

I haven't tried clears, but from anecdotal evidence (mostly posts around here) a keyboard with clears is one of the very few still on my wish list!

Not a fan of them stock but I love 62g clears, got them on both my 60% boards and will be putting them on my Filco shortly too.

You people who like clears should try tactile greys.
They are clears with a stiffer spring (exact same stem, exact same change in actuation force from actuation to bottom out --80g top, 120g bottom) and do NOT feel mushy at all, while clears can feel a bit mushy. Tactile greys feel anything but mushy. Try them.
Clears are to tactile greys, as blues are to greens.
Some might say that clears are a stiffer version of browns, but Browns do NOT have a peak force of 85g !! So clears are not a 'stiffer' brown. Also the tactile bump on a clear is more defined than on a brown.
MX clears have an actuation force of 55g, tactile force of 65g and bottom out force of 95g.
Tactile greys have an actuation force of 80g, tactile force of ~90g and bottom out force of 120g.
MX browns have an actuation force of 45g, and absolutely do *NOT* have a peak force of 85g!

Yeah, Clears are becoming more popular but I personally have not tried Clears.
I would rather stick with Browns and Blues since I am so used to them.
